Uhm, I see. Gilas needs to commit a crime or any violation of any PH laws and sue them before the government can do something about them. I like your logic.

The preparation of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 is shifting to a higher gear as the federation has received total commitment from basketball stakeholders in the country. The Philippines will host the FBWC 2023 along with Japan and Indonesia from August 25 to September 10, 2023. In […]

sabi nga ni Kume: "Ang sinasabi ko lang, sorry ha? Hindi naman natin masyadong kailangan (sa windows) kasi pasok na tayo. Ang talagang kalangan nating paghandaan natin ay 'yung 2023," he added.

same thinking how we lost to Indonesia. i remember some people here was ok we lost. maybe personally its ok witth those poster, but look at the domino of that kind of mindset. for true competitors, always go for the win. if we think its overkill to send players from PBA or core of Gilas, send 1 level down players who are all out to win for their development. not send some PBA players with youngster and then not letting the young players, who actually need to develop, rot in the bench.
I was one of those posters to honest, but that was last year, before all these BS between SBP and Tab happened. It would have been okay for me for Gilas to lose tough games against Asian powerhouses/world-level NTs in the WC windows, SEAG, Asia Cup, Asian Games (before it got cancelled) as long as it's the 2021 Tab-coached group of youngsters that get to play. But alas, it was not meant to be.

IT appears San Miguel Corp. is coming on board to help Gilas Pilipinas form the best team possible for next year's FIBA World Cup.

SMC sports director Alfrancis Chua, sources said, has been appointed executice advisor of the national team program - a key position that signalled the start of the conglomerate's involvement in the Gilas program.

The appointment came during the meeting among SBP stakeholders at the PLDT office on Monday where national coach Chot Reyes presented his program for Gilas Pilipinas leading up to the 2023 World Cup campaign.

Sources said Chua has yet to say yes to SBP and requsted that any appointment not be made public, but the SMC official nonetheless committed to help in any way he can in the bid to form the best team possible for the 2023 Fiba World Cup.

          • Bye bye coach Tab, MVP didn't even attended. Coach Tab's lone defendant....

Then Al Francis is now an executive consultant.

I just wish and hope they at least would put Coach Tab's ideals, words, and spirit in their organization and in their heads.

                • I wonder if tackled in the meeting is the date of the start of the Gilas training for the 4th window?

Maybe SBP people are thinking that there's really no need to start Gilas training so soon since we will be parading a super line-up led by Clarkson, Kai & those PBA superstars. With Clarkson, Kai & PBA superstars in tow, Gilas is just too strong & too good for Lebanon & Saudi Arabia.

For KSA perhaps, but for a very cohesive AC silver-medalist Lebanon NT, i think it's 50-50.

No bro. PBA people are just so confident that with Clarkson & Kai Sotto around, Gilas can start its training August 24 (a day before its first game) & would easily beat Lebanon by at least 15 pts. Nandyan si Clarkson & si Kai eh, plus those PBA superstars. There's no way Lebanon will beat us!!!

No bro, we have every right in the world to be very cocky & super confident with our star-studded Gilas team!!!! We are too skilled & too deep a team with Clarkson, Kai & those PBA superstars. No way Lebanon or Saudi Arabia can match us talent for talent!!!

We are bayan ng superstars eh!!!!! Plus we have the most brilliant coach in the planet right now!!!

We did beat them twice in a friendly back in 2006 with PBA all-stars under coach Norman and Chot. So an all-PBA NT can be competitive with the right talent and coaching.

Okay bro, I get what you mean now, hehe. I hope 2-3 weeks of training is enough, but PHL basketball history says otherwise. It's just me but I don't see Gilas with addition of JC and Kai instantly becoming continental beaters, kahit pa 1 month of practice is given probably because I'm not having too much faith with Gilas coaching/SBP leadership these days.
