I would like him to coach the Thais, have him stay in the SEA region,he will be a thorn in SBP's throat.

The guy (coach tab) that everyone was rooting for just really didn't want to coach the national team. Everyone here is just good at forming their own little theories on what's really up.
Well, Panlilio's (and SBP's) credibility is at an all-time low, so you can't blame us for not believing him.

I can, however, buy the fact that Tab resigned. Come on, it was explicitly told in a story here that he he resigned after a war of words with SBP officials.

I’m amazed he’s still here after that fiasco in February. I probably would have just left the country and take lucrative offers elsewhere.

Thailand curse incoming if Choke remains as gilas coach, although that is a bit harsh since it will surely give choke severe mental trauma.

Nothing wrong with cashing checks in Ateneo for 3 more seasons. At least he can still improve the basketball program there and test the local college coaches.

Lemme see. Before the SBP released the Gilas draftees, these were the available players, and not all were amateurs.

Gilas draftees: Nieto twins, Bulanadi, Suerte, Go, Navarro, Tungcab, Rangel
Free agents: Bolick, Lopez, Slaughter, Juan GDL
UAAP players: Kouame, Belangel (both joined Chot's practice)
B.League players: Thirdy, Kiefer, Javi GDL, Cariño, Dwight, Kobe

This is enough for a Gilas pool for the 2nd window. We'd lose to NZ, pero ayun, we would still have been on the same direction.

i maintain my position since Feb when the news broke out. SBP has always wanted PBA to be the face of the Philippine basketball in the international stage. if CCR leaves for whatever reason on whatever fashion, expect a PBA coach to take over. Coach Tim is already in the shadows. I dont think SBP will use him and let SMC, if rumors are true, to do that next year.
even all the excuses around learning experience, its just conditioning fans that using PBA is the way to be. whats the latest news aside from Clarkson? lots of filam all of a sudden has green light? they could just start training camp and let news leak who's who in there but amid the aftermath noise of the Asia Cup, labas agad ng news to distract what happened.
I prefer CTB over CCR and even over CNV, but at this point in time, a plan for the windows until the WC is a much better news from SBP rather than just replacing the coach. doesnt matter who they put anyway, aide from Aug window, player availability will be a problem.
"SBP has always wanted PBA to be the face of the Philippine basketball in the international stage."

Yeah, I'm starting to see that point of view now. Immediately replacing Tab with Chot instead of looking for prospects like Nenad, Goldwin, or Charles Tiu shows that they want the PBA to be the way to go.

                • Here is the story that a friend of mine, an Atenean Alum, told me.

Although Tab has a good relationship with MVP he does not have that kind of relationship with Panlilio and Vargas. And ever since MVP stepped down from his post at the SBP, Tab would mostly communicate with MVP instead of directly talking to Panlilio and Vargas. He said that Vargas and Panlilio took offense to that.

Another reason why Panlilio and Vargas wanted Tab out was because Tab convinced some of his players to explore options outside of the Philippines and together with Mark Dickel's connections they helped alot of these players get in touch with the foreign leagues. And this did not sit well with the PBA which Vargas and Panlilio are a part of.

He also said that it was true Tab was stressed out and the main reason he wanted to take a break was because of his sick brother. Tab talked directly to MVP to ask for a break and MVP obliged. But when MVP informed Panlilio and Vargas about Tab taking a break, one of them immediately called Tab and things got ugly. Although MVP tried to salvage the situation SBP immediately went to the press and proclaimed Tab resigned. If you guys remember Tab did not release any statement because he did not actually resign on that day but was made to step down. Despite Chot claiming ignorance he knows all of the events that transpired and he happily took that job because the man enjoys the attention although it back fired on him big time lol.

                    here.

Gilas Pilipinas quietly began their build-up to the February window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers on Saturday evening at Moro Lorenzo Sports Center in Quezon City. Sixteen players attended the workouts, split into two groups – the frontline and the backcourt. There was one addition to the pool who was part of the […]

Also part of the frontline group were Gilas draftees Isaac Go, Tzaddy Rangel, and William Navarro; naturalized Filipino Angelo Kouame; Carl Tamayo, Geo Chiu, and Justine Baltazar.

On the other hand, the backcourt was composed of Gilas draftees Matt Nieto, Rey Suerte, Mike Nieto, Allyn Bulanadi, and Jaydee Tungcab; along with SJ Belangel, Jason Credo, and Dave Ildefonso.

                    • LOL panlilio just retweeted this tweet from Chris D Tan

Everyone is so high on TAB, he didn't even win the UAAP with a healthy KOUAME. GILAS played without a naturalized player, an injured RAMOS, no AGUILAR & no actual shooter! How can we fairly judge this performance???

All the more confirms that Panlilio doesn’t like Tab.

This was, from the get-go, a personal matter between Tab and Panlilio/Vargas (PBA).

Remember when Oftana decided to enter the PBA draft and not the special draft? People were speculating he was influenced by some people so they won't lose him to the farm teams and be always available since he'll probably fall to MVP teams.. well he never suited up for GILAS since..

I think thats the wrong move for Tab unless its a one time deal for an Asian Games without the Hagop rule.
