Speaking of Panopio, why is it that we haven't heard from him recently? I wonder if SBP ever contacted him for the 3rd window, Asia Cup & 4th window? Is SBP not that impressed with Panopio?

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

    • Black's release is too slow and his outside shot is inconsistent. What can he do than Heading can't?

No, Chris Tan. The guy defending Chot, even regarding the SEA Games debacle.

No one in ASEAN is afraid of the PBA anymore

Well, every rotation player from the PBA save for June Mar and maybe Wright was useless for that game, for one.

As for Indo themselves, I saw their shooting coming into that game, but there were no defensive substitutions or adjustments from Chot. Kept going to offense (Troy, Mo, Pogoy), even though those offensive players but Wright amd June Mar were misfiring. Ayun, liabilities on both ends.

d chot reyes of d 90s used to say "we can afford to have an off-night in offense, but not in defense".

but ever since his mba days and especially when he became tnt coach, his defensive plan is to outshoot and outscore d opponents.

If Parks can be forgiven by the MVP/SBP group mas malala pa yung issue niya nun to that side, I hope Romeo can finally given a chance as well to represent
For me, he's 30. Pero oo nga, no, he could still be useful for this WC, and even next Asia Cup (he'll only be 33 by then), even as a super-6th man. If I can consider 32yo June Mar, why not 30yo Terrence, no? And Terrence has been one of the positives for Gilas. Just needs defensive protection.

Weird thing for me is, he shoots 32% from 3 in the PBA, but 40% (43-107) from 3 in 19 FIBA games.

cos junmar's game has never been about speed and agility. so getting older is not a problem. unlike with most point guards (see castro).

even prior to the fiba suspension, romeo's gilas games has been on a downward trend since his 2015-2017 heydays.

he can be an asset still becos none of d current pgs have his shot-creation skils. but i'd rather see gilas roll with d younger pgs. especially if we have clarkson at sg.

big men tend to have a longer productive career than guards relying on athleticism

doesn't the pba have the same 3pt line as the nba? if so, fiba 3pt line is closer to the rim than the pba line

but anyway, i do agree romeo was great in fiba, he was surprisingly a decent defender too. i don't follow the pba so i don't know how he'll fare if he were to play now.

PBA and Fiba have the same 3pt line. Its NBA that is different

SJ and RJ are better than neither Bolick nor Terrence, and share similar skillsets, and then Cagulangan from UP's too small and is not much of a scoring threat (despite the championship-winning shot), although he can be a playmaker and tough defender in the UAAP level.

Wala, the guard talent's somewhat regressed here for some reason.

                            it's the coach.

FIBA announcer even said he was expecting SJ to breakout in the tournament. didnt happen because it was Kiefer's team and the coach didnt let him. SJ showed promised at 1st game against LIB then disappeared to the point he was hunting shots against NZ maybe Japan. in fairness though he wasnt able to stop Togashi. i'm sure SJ can run a system, and maybe even elevate his game to the level of shot maker.

what happened to RJ was worst, relegated as 3rd string. after rewatching Tab coached college core, RJ was actually 3rd PG but was able to supplant Tungcab because of his offense, how he was good as a microwave option in scoring, PnR with Kai. in contrast, RJ wasnt allowed to show anything in Fiba Asia Cup.

that's what coaching in a hierarchial way does.

also, im sure SJ can run a system better than Bolick or Romeo. why cant RJ be the microwave that Romeo was in a Tab team but what team are we building anyway? if its PBA style, then sure pick Bolick or Romeo.

Bro while I agree that SJ is not a bum. I think he's just on Kawamura PG of Japan. That kind of level, a 2nd stringer. A backup. We still need a lead guard. We were expecting it to be Kiefer since the beginning but somehow it's not meant to be kahit anong pilit gawin

RJ has the handles but all he does is chuck up shots from the perimeter, especially from beyond the arc.

He does not have a slashing game of a young Romeo plus the elite shot creating of him. He can create but only to get that shot off in the perimeter kaya nachecheck
