Parks and Erram only.
a lot of these news wont mean anything if CTB was still at the helm. why? we know he wont add players if they dont have atleast a month of training with him.doesnt matter who meets with who or shake whose hands. CTB was using players outside PBA. but now the head coach is PBA affiliated, any news just keeps fans excited either with happiness or anger. if happy, they insert PBA in the conversation. if not, they just shut up. so again, they are able to control how fans look at basketball.
If the PBA controls the narrative, starting with the Asia Cup, then they insert their favorite players, regardless of age, timeline, and FIBA-fitness or FIBA performance.

lets put it this way, lets say Gilas fail for the next 20 years. (wag sana of course) that will not stop Philippines from participating in international competition because Philippines will always be part of the international community and will always join events to strengthen this.
If PBA fails for even 10 years in the eyes of the fans, that will give an opening to potential competition to come in. PBA needs to profit, for itself atleast, to continue to exist. Gilas doesnt. even if Gilas is shutdown, something else will take its place to rep the country. Right now, PBA is still a powerful sports figure in the country even if other leagues are coming up. if it dies, lets think about it hard, it doesnt automatically mean a new league of same calibre will rise up. why? because our leagues are commercial in nature. for another league to come up, it has to have a pool of owners that have money to burn. and even if it does, it doesnt mean it would be effective. look at MBA.
going back to topic, if they let CNV coach and we got 8th to 6th place with only 3 PBA players (Kiefer, BRP, and Erram), then it would further cement the notion that best players are not in the PBA. why do you think PBA is doing its best to scare players to get drafted? so that they can be associated to PBA. wala na nga sa liga si Kiefer and BRP but they are still considered PBA players when you read\watch the news. if CCR coaches and we get 6th to 8th place, then one of the best coach is from PBA. if he fails, he'll come out and say we need more PBA players. what kind of control over narrative do you need? these same tactics are used by politicians around the world. its not new. its just frustrating that SBP\PBA is too much to help PBA. its ok to me if you give some preferential treatment to PBA. but come on, if you guys say you'll lend, mean it. if you say you will help. show it.WE DON'T COUNT YEARS, WE COUNT CENTURIES

For those who have seen a good No. of games of Northport in the PBA, do you think Malonzo's defense is decent enough for the asian basketball level? In a SMB-Northport game just recently, I saw several times Malonzo guarding CJ Perez. Knowing how lethal Perez' offense is (I think perez is the best 2-guard in the PBA right now), I feel Northport coach Pido Jarencio has high regard & confidence on Malonzo's defense."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

a 6'6 3 guy with decent handles & shooting. He's not T-mac or Derozan obviously but he should be a fixture of Gilas for the next 6 to 10years along with Ramos,Heading,Parks,Kai,Ange,Tamayo & Balti. These 8 should be our core groupLast edited by carmelo7; 07-12-2022, 06:20 AM.

Is Ryan Alba a poster here?
Here's a geeky article for all the Sabermetrics nerds out there:
In today’s basketball, versatility is the name of the game. The most valuable players are the ones who can do multiple things at a high level. There’s a reason why the traditional pass-first point guard that doesn’t score, the post-up big, and spot-up shooters who can’t shoot off movement or defend are dwindling in numbers. […]
He broke down Ray Parks' advanced stats and uses numbers to show his versatility and efficiency. Quinito he is not. Fortunately.

Just for indonesia play game like this (and not anymore resorting to tanking) they might have a chance on making a case for fiba that they are already a top asian team although the top 8 finish is the best metric to measure success (unfortunately not the gold medal against a perennial top 5 ) asian national team in Philippines..
Imagine the prev Saudi game.. Kosasih looked like Junamr out there.. thats how far Indonesia have become..To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

I can't help but feel "panghihinayang" becoz everything seems to be falling in the right place last year, especially when we beat Korea twice & had that respectable loss vs. Serbia.
Then, all of the sudden this trying times so far this year. Its as if SBP threw everything in the window. Sayang talaga!"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game.
