Problem with men's Gilas is both are not true!
Unless some homegrowns in our teenager prospecst improved a lot.
I really think only Sotto, Tamayo, and maybe Lopez and Baltazar will be in the best team Gilas can assemble.
Again 2027.
That is a 30 yrs old Baltazar, 27 yrs old Tamayo, 25 yrs old Kai, and 24 yrs old Lopez.
Maybe by then other best Fiba eligible are Fil Fors developed overseas:
Like maybe Harpers, Harris, Konov, AJ, Dwight, etc

Question: is Coach TAB a good coach or is it because of KOUAME? Plus having a good recruitment program. Serious question.. I don't sew anything special from his coaching. Its just he also has the talent pool plus a huge big guy in the middle. Defense made easier..

Turns out, he wanted a local coach. Furthermore, he thinks Franz Pumaren and Norman Black did more for college basketball.

Serious question, what is it in the Japanese culture that has no issues with foreign coaches, (note they also have no problem with US military based being stationed in Japan) , and note you cannot say Japanese are not patriotic or nationalistic..
So what is it with our mentality that it's such a bad thing to have foreigners as coaches ?

Yes Ange solved a lot of problems but who developed Ange? Wasnt it Tab and his staff who taught him basketball? Diouf in comparison was arguably developed by Manong Derrick.
Tab is not perfect. Bit in terms of player development and defense he is heads and shoulders over our local coaches.

Yeah Franz did a lot for his college team. By raiding our youth team.

I think its just BCAP and the big guys behind them. Chot got it all over his head that he was a messiah when Blatche dragged his headless chicken ball to relevancy. But honestly did it ever work without prime Blatche.
We are nobody in internationall ball. It is but logical we pick the brains of international coaches who are good at it.
Danding knew his basketball and hired Jacobs. Ang and MVP doesnt seem to know. Ang fully trusts his operator Chua. And MVP and thr SBP big boys have all their hopes on motivator Chot. In the meantime all the achievements of the international coaches, Tab and Nenad, are conveniently ignored.
If they are honest among themselves they should already pick those two and hire younger coaches as assistants. Technology transfer to Jong Uichico is pointless. We need actual coaches who still have the energy and have the track record to absorb new basketball concepts and apply and spread them.
Who is this Vargas that MVP cant kick him out so Tab can take over the program again?

He's building his lineups with taller wings and small ball fours with length and versatility. That's the direction Philippine basketball should be going, especially if the team doesn't have a bigman. Go for versatility when you have tall athletes.
