The really good ones will be having a long international career in a foreign league, returning only when they are past their primes.

Lmao you're talking like the PBA is some kind of premier league in the world. Nahh, it's a low level competition, yes they maybe have dozen of quality players playing there, but the way basketball is being played is decade old behind. Whenever I watch PBA I feel like I'm still stuck in early 2000s that's how bad it is.#FIRECHOTREYES!!

I've seen it in NZ. the only thing is the domestic league should be under the jurisdiction of the federation. (SBP) not the other way around
All the young Pinoy prospects if they have serious hoop dreams are going to have to follow the football/soccer route of going to another domestic league to gain skills or significant exposure to better talent.
The PBA will always be the home of 26 year old rookies and 6'3 Centers

From Carlo Pamintuan: https://twitter.com/carlo_pamintuan/...17236479533059
Kouame, Sotto, Navarro, Baltazar, and Belangel starting for Gilas Pilipinas
Looks like Tab wants to experiment with a big lineup against China.

1. I'd take that availability or lack thereof in the 2nd window as due to the pandemic. The fact that most leagues, the B.League included, provide for a break only two weeks or so to prepare for the windows, plus the 14-day restrictions we have, mean that naturally he's gonna be unavailable for the 2nd window.
2. For this window, he's injured.
3. He's unavailable for windows. The availability I was speaking of was that for the main tournament, and the availability for the whole prep time needed for that tournament, which the PBA doesn't provide (e.g. the barely 2 weeks of preparation given to Gilas before the 2021 WC), but most other leagues do.Originally posted by zairex View Post1. I would agree with you but Japan NT is here which includes players who played in B. League playoffs.
2. I didn't read anything about this. Coach Tab said that Thirdy has commitments in Japan until end of May. Remember his last game was in April.
3. I despise PBA for their commitment with our NT. But it might be the same with other leagues if players will asked to rest rather than play for our NT on main tournaments. B. League and PBA gives 2 weeks of prep time for qualifiers. PBA even has once a week practice for NT players every Monday or Tuesday during the season but even this is not enough for our NT prep.Originally posted by JAMSKIE View PostHere's my take: Thirdy, most likely (I say around 95%) would be available for the August tournament (2021 FIBA Asia Cup) becoz the B-league (just like all the other premier pro leagues all over the world) is in its off season.
Now, I ask, would that be the same case as current PBA players Kiefer, Pogoy, Rosario, Perez, Matt Wright?
Yun yung point na palagi kong pino point out. That PBA season is very much alive during the months of July, August, September - period when FIBA tournaments & other international tourneys are held. On the other hand, all other the premier pro leagues in the world (including the NBA) are in the off season during this period.
Windows, OK lang ang few weeks. The main tournament, you should prepare for months.

Originally posted by Wannabe View PostEven in its early stage we already see that the program is effective. Now for continuity so that there will be steady supply of similar sized kids with potential to be trained into their envisioned positions/roles, if financially viable and the handlers/advisers allow them i hope SBP can expand the pool to say 24 and form them as cadet training team(B) with some of them can readily be promoted to team A or can be called up in case of injuries.
Example, Tamayo and Balti as versatile forwards (3/4), the immediate candidates could be Cortez and Quiambao. I know these idea has been discussed here in IBN and even coach TAB has said also he wants to expand the pool.
So Lets Refresh the list of potential Bigs, Wings and Guards.
Guards:
T. Ravena (B.League)
Matt Nieto (PBA)
Suerte (PBA)
Juan GDL (B.League)
Tungcab (PBA)
Abarrientos (UAAP)
Belangel (UAAP)
Heading (PBA)
Wings:
Bulanadi (PBA)
Mike Nieto (PBA)
Javi GDL (UAAP)
Navarro (PBA)
Lopez (UAAP)
Forwards:
Tamayo (UAAP)
Baltazar (UAAP)
Bigs:
Kai (Australia NBL)
Kouame (UAAP)
Chiu (UAAP)
Go (PBA)
We will feel Navarro's loss the most if he goes PBA. I hope we have capable replacements if ever.

It's really defense that deferientiates this team
I think it's the best Gilas defenseive team ever actually

1. Most Filams/Fil Foreigners/ Duap Citizens or whatever technical term you want to call it.
2. Most Played in International Leagues.
1:
Homegrown would probably only Kai, Tamayo, Balti, maybe Thirdy and Lopez. ( Prospects such as Basti Reyes depends on their development)
Dual Citizens will dominate the pool such as: Dwight, Heading, Tuffin, Amoses Edus, Harris, Harper, Tobias, deliaños, and other future newly discovered Fil Foreigners. Even if u add pba, Matthew Wright and Ray Parks will be considered.
2:
For the second point. Most of them, If NOT ALL, would have been played overseas.
Nbl Australia, NBL, New Zealand, US NCAA, Japan B League are the leagues we are exporting our players. Only euroleague or any euopean league are not yet explored by our players.
CONCLUSION:
1. FIL FOREIGN/DUAL CITIZEN PLAYERS ARE GENERALLY BETTER BASKETBALL PLAYERS THAN THEIR LOCAL HOMEGROWN COUNTERPARTS.
2. OUR BEST LOCALS/HOMEGROWN CAN COMPETE FOR THE SPOT IF THEY PLAY OVERSEAS.
OFC, THERE WILL BE EXEMPTIONS. BUT GENERALLY, THIS WILL BE TRUE. MAYBE IN 2027.Originally posted by lurklurk View PostImma stop you right there. Racism na yan (reverse). Learn to differentiate.Originally posted by mathematicianrcg View PostFine. I apologize
You all get my point anyway.
My only point is that our local players are in a disadvatage because they are having less competition. And our genes is not as athletic. That's it.
