So it's impossible that SBP will tap any PBA players, Chot for this.... I will worried if the continental tournament will start a month after that 3rd window... But it's good that the tournament will be days only ahead after the 3rd window...
Supposedly they are fast tracking TNTs games. I dont know if this will be enough to free up TNT for the Asia cup but I think thats the idea.

If Choke was really competitive in the international level, that's fine. But he is not as proven by the almost lost to Thailand and the actual loss to Indonesia in the SEA Games.

It might, since their last game is on July 7.

If I had my way, of course I wouldn't get any of the PBA players and coaches for reasons we already know, but in the spirit of compromise I'd go so far as to accept the inclusion of 4 of them (players only) in the national team, but that's it. They're Bolick, Oftana, Kiefer, and if Clarkson is our NP, then Aguilar as the third big after Kai and Edu. HC- Nenad or Tab.

Then the NT will look something like:

Abarrientos, Bolick, Oftana, Kiefer, Abando, Dwight, Balatazar, Tamayo, Aguilar, Edu, Sotto, and Clarkson.

For comparison purposes, the NT final 12 that I want is: Abarrientos, Panopio, Parks, Heading, Abando, Dwight, Navarro, Baltazar, Tamayo, Edu or Kouame if allowed as a local, Sotto, and Clarkson. the size of the guards and the wings will negate the necessity for a third big. besides, baltazar and tamayo can fill that role in short stretches.
The PBA, without realizing it, is hellbent in embarrassing Philippine hoops.

Maybe, an embarassing WC 2023 finish will truly shake things in PH basketball.

In that case, good luck trying to make the Asia Cup.

            • if PBA really wants to rep the Philippines, can't they just use pure PBA players and coaches? not even Kiefer in this instance. use whoever NP they want. prep they way they want and would allow. they can prepare however they want the whole nine yards.
i wouldnt like it, but that would be fair to the PBA and even to other stakeholders. ayaw natin ng best available with proper exposure and training, e di inyo na lahat. there wont be finger pointing if this is the setup. if soemthing good comes out, then 100% its with them. if something bad comes out of it, 100% pwede bumawi next time.

              • In the likely situation that SMC will take over the SBP after the 2O23 WC , it makes sense to start making sip sip.

It 's how things work in the Philippines forever, just look at the change in government administration , same story.

Doesn't take a genius to figure out , what's really happening, spotted a million miles away.

Oh Turnover transition begins now , not after 2023

sad reality: FIBA 2023 might be the last time we play in the worlds if this type of self enamored sh** continues. They are so blinded with the results of the 2014 WC and the 2016 OQT, tsktsk

Bro, ano ba kayo? Choke Reyes is just too good an international coach that he can easily moonlight at coaching both TnT & the National team with relative ease!!!!!!!!!!! With regards to the TnT players, subrang galing kaya nina Pogoy, montalbo & Rosario that there won't be no problem for them to jell with their other Gilas teammates!!!!

We are sending a Phi national "Dream Team" handled by the most brilliant basketball tactician in the history of FIBA basketball!!!!!!

Typical PBA shitty mentality - preparing for a major FIBA tournament as if preparing for an all-star game. I won't be surprised if we lost to both Lebanon & New Zealand in the elims & won't even make it to the quarterfinals at all.

                        Shit pa more PBA!!!!

Since 2016, TNT invest for Troy and Pogoy but until now no results, although when Mark Dickel enters the team, I see some developments for Troy and Pogoy but when Dickel left, they were back to useless again.... w/o Mikey, TNT will still hunting for championship since 2015...
I'm a TnT fan as well bro

                          • I remember Dickel because he was the first guy to feature and give Trollano major minutes. He even regularly posted Trollano against smaller guards. He had to trade Trollano though to get Barbie Parks. Except for the conf with 1 finals appearance, where he barely played, TNT did not get much from Parks IMO. Except for that conf where he got injured in the finals he was not able to lead the team to success.

SBP would come full circle then if ever that happens. Underwhelmed/performed with supposedly strong, continental-beating, majority PBA-backed roster in 2007, yet the same thing might happen again to the 2023 team.

I hope the case would not be the same for 2027 campaigns and beyond.

                              • It's not a joke, this is worrying to Pilipinas basketball the entry of SMC. This will surely be the dark ages of basketball ala BAP era with the type of people and mind in SMC who are archaic, backward minded, not aware of new era of fiba basketball, and allot of BCAP supporters and very much PRO PBA, and Chua. What is SBP thinking? Do they care more of friendship and utang na luob than to win for medal and cups in Fiba? And up to now Coach chot and even his son is still in Gilas, evenn if there style and system is failing, are they afraid of the Reyes and MVP? Nepotism , politics and lack of Delicadeza is crippling again our basketball in Pilipinas.
