to dovetail to what a poster here said, I may not be a danding fan, but he did care enough for the NT team to support it long term.

I hope the KBL will truly open their borders for more asian players to paly and the Bleague to change a bit their asian import rule and the NBL to take more asian imports. In that way most of our collegiate players will not have their options so thin with only this archaic / non innovative cartel basketball league as an option. I hope also the Vismin cup and even the MPBL flourish.
VisMin, MPBL, and NBL are Chooks-sponsored. I do hope MascariƱas finds a way to make the leagues merge into one big minor league that can hopefully compete with the PBA.

About Eala, although he had a link to SMC (he was employed there after his resignation as kume), agree that he had a vision of the future.

Hopefully, more international leagues will take our young players.

          indeed. Good news.

          この度、アースフレンズ東京Zでは、ホアンゴメス・デ・リアノ選手とのB.LEAGUE2021-22シーズンの選手契約が基本合意に至りました

          • This may sound weird coming from me, while it is indeed a good development more players play overseas, important also is maintaining a good pro domestic league. I've seen it in NZ. the only thing is the domestic league should be under the jurisdiction of the federation. (SBP) not the other way around

            • the domestic pro league should grow up , and not take players playing overseas as a bad thing, but actually good thing , as if they develop well, they eventually will increase the level of play when they return home to play

              • Japan can only offer College Players.

Our Pba Players is "may tali sa leeg" by their pba teams.

Anyway, Balti, Dwight, and Tamayo would probably be discovered and be offered by B League or other International quality leagues better than pba.

Ayun na nga, e. It will increase the level of play. So at least they'll get something positive out of it.

it's like not allowing OFW's , let them go,, and when they return they can bring back what they learned.. win win.. need to think more broadly and not insular.

Many pinoy players abroad is good for gilas but is in no way good for the PBA. Besides, it seems that the mentality of our best young players is go abroad because of better offers not because they want to hone their craft to be ready for the PBA. Lol

The really good ones will be having a long international career in a foreign league, returning only when they are past their primes.

                      • I have always wondered why the PBA develops potential wing players into stretch 4s, then I realized that the SF position is basically non-existent in Philippine basketball for a very long time.

that is the caveat there for our basketball set-up here. PBA controlled by SMC... SBP always threading the line between leadership of basketball to just being political to gain the blessing of the PBA.

Maintaining a pro league with parity and not a mafia or cartel is not this current PBA is all about.

                            Power of Money????

In this pandemic times, Money became even more powerful.

On the bright side, It helps Gilas to have players trained and played from abroad, than in pba.

... unfortunately the harsh reality of this pandemic is real and a player / maybe now a bread winner like JDL needs a job to sustain their family as implied in what he said "ā€œItā€™s hard to pass up these kinds of opportunities especially during a hard time like what we are experiencing right now,ā€ he told Tiebreaker Times." ... it is the right thing to do.

Is New Zealand-NBL under its basketball federation? I wonder how many premier pro leagues in Asia-Oceania which are under the jurisdiction or control of the basketball federations of their respective countries?

PBA has never been under the jurisdiction & control of SBP or BAP (during BAP's regime) & never will be.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV
