What's Balungkay, Philipps , Lucero doing now ?
If they play as a NP, does thay eliminate thr possibility of them getting an exception in the future (especially Phillips who seems to have the biggest shot)?

    • This is an exhibition but SBP doing a BAP here by sending a incomplete doughnut team, and ibner and Analyzed has valid point . No contingency plan or really thirdy and Ricci sitout this series
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
      1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

We are all in trouble. Firtunately, its just practice
It won't be practice for Korea. Warmups, maybe. At most we'll be struggling to run sets our players aren't used to.

Mickey Williams and Malonzo would be perfect for the tuneup games w/ korea
They could use two right? still just an exhibition anyways

Short answer NO, won't discuss the player but we actually have a similar incident happening now..

we're not playing korea in the actual games. this should've been an opportunity to test potential 2023 players, so getting young players makes sense. old pba vets or filam ineligibles don't make sense

hehe, reminds me of that Spongebob episode where Patrick made things worse.

I hope the reason why they aren't pursuing the Fiba ineligibles is because of this and not out of ineptitude.

Didn't we use Tuatuaa is SEA, there obviously player who are doubtful to be exempted anyway (SBP should know who they are , i hope ).
BTW to be clear I'm saying being classified as a NP in a FIBA tournament is not an automatic verdict to always be a naturalized player ..

This is really big specially we are hosting world cup next year. i don't see any problem specially if the transition will be smooth, money won't be an issue.

But with SMC Leadership we might see more players from them that means start to zero nanaman ang program.

Chot might be out hoping they will get tab please lord.

If true, oh my goodness. It makes me a little nervous. SMC have a lot to prove in my eyes.

                            1. Can they focus on developing players for the international game?
                            2. Are they willing to hire foreign coaches bar Tim Cone? To aid our local coaches on how to perform internationally?
                            3. Are they willing to bet on a long-term program for Gilas, starting from the youth program up?
                            4. Are they willing to adjust tactically for the international game?

for now the only thing we are sure is that they are willing to spend big to get the results done. Wow this is big news, hmm if Danding is still alive we could have seen a repeat of the NCC model. RSA is hands off right since he is not a sports person, so Long Hair?

Quick fix should only be just that, it can't be a trend. While the quick fix is ongoing, they should focus also on recruiting and developing players to be fit for the international game, can't be happy with "pang-PBA lang."

Furthermore, to aid in long-term development, hire foreign coaches to help in developing FIBA-fit players and mentor the locals, like Ron Jacobs and Tab with Jong, and Rajko Toroman with Charles Tiu.

Man, like I said, they have a lot to prove.
