I remember Tamayo holding his own against the country's top collegiate players. I think he was only 17 at that time.
When I saw Tamayo's good ball handling & some shooting in that tournament, I thought to myself this kid is going somewhere. Sa murang edad na 17 eh kaya na nyang makipagsabayan sa mga magagaling na college players in which some of whom were 5 to 6 years older than him.

Guys, if for instance Jaime Malonzo happens to be a FIBA eligible Pinoy player, how serviceable do U think he is for Gilas? He struggled in his first few games with Northport last year but has been doing well since then. He could be a perfect combo forward for Gilas. I think offensively, he's better than either a prime Kelly Williams or Gabe Norwood, although defensively Norwood & Kelly are better than Malonzo."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Kai and AJ (Hopefully healthy) should be our Main Bigs. Idc if they will be 21 and 23 yrs old only next year.
Tamayo and Baltazar should be the Main forwards. Even if they will be only 22 and 26 yrs old respectively next yearLast edited by mathematicianrcg; 06-14-2022, 06:47 AM.

Although they have developed Fran Yu, Jio Jalalon, Arvin Tolentino, and Aris Dionisio, can they translate that development to FIBA? Because, the way I see it, they have developed players for PBA, and not necessarily for FIBA.
Plus, with Chua around, are these guys willing to take advice from a Tab-caliber foreign coach, especially with regards to tactics and development?Originally posted by JAMSKIE View Post^ ^ ^ ^ ^
I have no trust on SMC as well.
The SMC in the 80's, 90's & early 2000's is very different from the current SMC bunch of guys.
Despite of some blunders here & there, I still believe MVP group could do a better job than SMC.Originally posted by IPC View PostYeah. SMC under Danding was more open. And heck, even when Eala was with them. Hired Ron Jacobs and Rajko Toroman. But well, shit happened.Originally posted by robert0326I agree... Remember Chua is one of the main people at BCAP that oppose foreign coaches, And Chua doesn't know how to transact with FIBA people... Can't mess with them... Can he appeal ineligible players for a exemption? Can he sacrifice his teams for FIBA tournaments? Can he open some changes at SBP? That is a question mark.... Even SBP some flows, they are better than BAP before... with BAP, we don't have a real team in womens division, We can't consistently bring youth teams in the past... Only problem on SBP is they allowed PBA to control SBP numerous times... Remember a good basketball program starts with a better/organize basketball leagues... PBA is a mess, so SBP affected on that PBA mess!!!!
For now, I'm still iffy, and I still have my misgivings.

Then she better have a KY Jelly endorsement, and a soft chair to sit on during games. She probably see alot of "No Holes Barred" celebration every championship.

do this to Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, Gilas is lucky if they lose by 20 points.

Originally posted by Rds View PostSMC is not really known for developing players. They have the money to get any player they want. Chua has a chance to prove that he can develop players and teams and not just manipulate them using SMCs clout in the PBA. The sagip kapatid and sagip ng farm team has never been so obvious under his time. Even SMBs dominance was peppered with biased calls. You even have some former players curiously playing bad in crucial times making SMC teams, particularly SMB, win.
If UST can develop FIBA-quality players and good coaches that can do it internationally, then OK. At least we're advancing.

I'm not really expecting much from Junior. It's better to set your expectations low these days.
