I wonder how the meeting goes? I hope it isn't about players leaving for foreign leagues..

probably thats one of the topics. Chua previously said Gilas can borrow their ball boys and coaches. so we'll see. i'm not excited, i actually feel this is just another way to market PBA somehow rather than actually helping Filipino basketball.
WE DON'T COUNT YEARS, WE COUNT CENTURIES

Essentially there is no successful model in the world (not named US or Spain) where the top players from college onwards remain in the country full time . (none) . this is not unique to basketball but any industry actually.

        • A sprinkle of positive development:

"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Thank goodness for the Goldwin hire. Helped UP to our championship last May, beat Tab's Ateneo no less. The players were quite disciplined too (bar a few Ricci Rivero boneheaded shots), especially on defense. We blitzed PnRs often under him, and rotated hard. Offense, moved the ball, but we often looked to score in transition.

Hopefully he can learn under Nenad, and pass what he learned to the UP coaching staff. Seemed like a smart guy, as he was able to identify what was lacking in UP over the course of the season.

Not so sure about Golds offensive sets. Does his offense work without Cagu orchestrating it? But his defense and rotation is top notch. His handling of Carl has been good since HS. He maximizes Carl in offense and tries to minimize his defensive deficiency.

Oh, yeah, the Cagulangan factor. And the offense drops significantly without him orchestrating and calling the plays.

Honestly, yeah, he looks more defensive than offensive at this point, and it showed against Ateneo. Struggled on offense, but made life difficult on D.

As to Carl, I like that he's still allowed to handle the ball amd take it to the basket. He's blitzing and hedging PnR coverages too.

Ball handling has been on of Tamayo's upside. I mean his handles is exceptional for a big man. Such upside Tamayo has exhibited as far back as 4 years ago when he played for the Gilas cadets in the 2018 Fil-oil Flying V Preseason Cup. I remember Tamayo holding his own against the country's top collegiate players. I think he was only 17 at that time.

When I saw Tamayo's good ball handling & some shooting in that tournament, I thought to myself this kid is going somewhere. Sa murang edad na 17 eh kaya na nyang makipagsabayan sa mga magagaling na college players in which some of whom were 5 to 6 years older than him.

This skills, along with toughness, shooting, and surprisingly good post defense, will make him indispensable to the national team for years to come. He's one of my non-negotiables for the 2023 roster.

Hey, we might need Montalbo, Pogoy, and Troy if we only have 9 more available players so as to avoid forfeiting the games. Hahahahahahahaha.

I think realistic Pool for 2023 ( Meaning No Doubtful due to issues like Parks and Greg)

                          NON PBA:

Kai, AJ, Dwight, Baltazar, Tamayo, Thirdy, Heading, Dave, Quiambao, Abando, Kouame/JC/NP

                          PBA:

Nlex: Kiefer(Alas if Kief is in Non Pba), Oftana
                          Ginebra: Scottie, Japeth
                          San Muguel: Junmar, Perez
                          TNT: Pogoy, Troy, Erram
                          Phx: Wright

I say if these PBA & SBP people would still consider lolo Japeth Aguilar for the 2023 World Cup, then they are having a unilateral wet dream.

How on God's green earth could this PBA & SBP people consider a 36-years old Japeth Aguilar (he would be 36 next year) for next year's FIBA World Cup bound Gilas pool? Its not like Japeth was among the good performers of Gilas in the 2019 World Cup. I remember Japeth missing 2 totok na mga tira in that game vs. Angola & to think we lost via close game.

Come on, let's move on! Let's give that slot sa mga bata.

Thats how shallow our bigs pool we still salivate japeth blocks shots and not counting how many inside points he will allow because he cant defend bigs outside weakside D hahhaa
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
                              1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Wouldnt be surprised if AJ Raval, BGSM's current muse, will be Long Hair's next side chick. To be fair, young Alfrancis is good looking
