A poor man's Gabe, but good enough, we need this kind of player.

Shame that Chot didn't play him in the Indonesia game. We really could have used his defense, which was poor that game.

For all we know, they're probably just planning a joint sponsorship of the Mens NT for the WC'23. Which probably means 10 PBA players + JC and Kai. Also, composition of the coaching staff, trainers and ballboys.

That's all. Which also means disruption of the PBA Calendar because whatever SMC and MVP say, go.

On defense but I could easily see him being late stage tony allen. Deleted off the game because of his offense. Hope a KBL stint can change things like how moving to Ateneo from Beda did.

I smell a big backwards approach on something that badly needs a fresh air of innovativeness (PBA) and i'm worried it will greatly affect Gilas. Destroy the PBA all they want idgaf but if Gilas suffers then I'll really lose interest on the NT anymore, I will support but very minimal interest. If that happens it will leave me with UP as the only basketball team in the Philippines that I will be interested on and that is kinda sad.

At least tactically, UP presents a breath of fresh air, especially on defense. They were the first team I saw that blitzed more often, and they varied their coverages. We also prevented Ateneo from shooting well, making timely rotations and closing out on shooters. We held our own against Ateneo's FIBA-style offense. Forgive my bias, I'm a UP student (and alumnus).

My question is about how we'll develop our players. Could we develop them for the international game, like Ateneo's doing?

He is the Ateneo Killer right? Records speak for itself, Ateneo HS even with Kai, and later LBL can't beat Goldwyn Monterverde's Nazareth HS team. Then we all know what happened to Ateneo this season in the SR level, when Monteverde got the HC job with UP.

I dont know how will it translate to player development though

If you want Gilas to actually be good then worry about the youth/college product. It matters a lot more personally. For example, Ive asked this question like 10 times already. Is Carl Tamayo gonna keep playing for as an "amateur" until he is 24? Way more important than what happens in the PBA.

Well, Al Panlilio said it: https://www.spin.ph/basketball/fiba/...-a793-20220613

"Focused on how we can form the most competitive national team for the World Cup."

I'm scared to find out what their idea for "most competitive team" is.

More like saving pba and they want to be relevant in WC. What im afraid of is , the WC wil again majority pba players, while in fact the best players are in foreign league and college ranks right now. Im okay with hybrid but in pba its only Fajardo that deserves to be added. Most of pba players are undersize and old. And worse it might still be Coach chot because pba hate foreign coach and Coach chot is close to pba officials.

I hope SBP cares more for the fans and to win medals and cups in fiba , not utang na luob , friendship and saving pba.

The PBA doesn't need "saving" but they have to accept that in the future they wont be able to keep top talent especially once the top leagues in the world are involved. The UAAP hopefully learns this lesson too.

Editing my comment because i tihink it's too inflammatory

Let's just say our NT will be full of backdoors from now on

Backroom deals, backdoor plays, backdoor "plays", and backwards progress ahihihihihi

A certain long haired "tiny peen"man from SMC likes the "backdoor" alot,so he will feel at home, the way things are running.
