look at the bright side, he'll increase the female (and sponky) demographic of Gilas. hehe

This, his skill set seems to be a good fit in 3x3 competition. Ricci, Kobe Paras with Coach Ayo would look good in the chooks to go team

That's fine. I'll be spreading the Gospel of Tab Baldwin to them in the meantime, hehehe

Shame for Liwag. I woulda wanted him to develop further with Gilas. Oh well, hope he gets invited in the February window.

Finally a Carino sighting. I was wondering why the selection committee ( if there's one) didn't include his name in the first place. Dude is 6'8, has FIBA experience and has played more pro games than most players in the pool.

This is good news. He is a decent defensive big. Thin but decent laterals.

most likely the Balti pullout allowed the Carino inclusion. hopefully he can show much more as a stretch 4 or 5 in this iteration, and dislodges Geo Chiu (if still no improvement) in the final cut

I thought he's 6'9,did he stopped growing at 15,like an average Filipino? He was 6'8 at U16 projected to grow 6'10,so he didn't grow an inch?

I have no panghihinayang on Concepcion getting cut. I don't see him that serviceable either at present or in the future.

On Liwag, I think he is a good prospect, maybe its just that its not yet his time. Hope he'll be invited back in the Gilas pool next time around
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

He looked talker than Balti but not as long. So 6'8 or 6'9 would be correct.

                        • Whats our law for refugees (example Ukrainians) if we accept the the people who has athletic potential, we might be hitting two birds at one stone
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
                          1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

I wonder how Gilas would have faired vs. South Korea in last year's 3rd window of the Asia Cup qualifiers had it was Choke Reyes who coached Gilas? That is given of course that Choke Reyes had the same preparation & training period with Gilas that coach Tab got.

Navarro would have barely played because he is not good enough as a DDO 3. Dwight would only be pre Gilas level Dwight. He was not impressive in the US and we could credit Tabs program for his development. Kai wouldve been limited to an abangers big. No leading the secondary break. No drives.

So Chot wouldve brought in his TNT boys, Pogoy, Rosario and Erram. Pogoy would have played 3. Even with Kouame and Kai, we wouldve been blownout by 20 to 30 pts.Hyun Jung Lee wouldve run circles on Troy
Chot would have probably brought in Wright too. Problem is, Troy and Wright have been shown to be defensive liabilities, especially in the SEA Games. Even Pogoy became a defensive liability. Thing with Chot is, he prefers offensive players, even at the expense of our defense. That explains his fondness for 3-guard lineups, putting guys like Chan, Wright, and Pogoy at 3. They aren't good team defenders. Worse, the first and second guards aren't usually good defenders too.

In contrast to Tab, he put in Dwight, Navarro, and even Balti at 3. All three could defend. In fact, he had Mike Nieto and Isaac Go as good team defenders as well, not to mention Kouame. Defense-first talaga.

In order to win, I think we have to focus on defense. I don't think Chot's that guy as a coach, seeing as he will sacrifice defense for offense, but won't do the reverse.

Yeah, Abueva would have been good too. Despite his lack of size at the 3 and shooting ability, and his tendency to get into unnecessary shenanigans, his hustle, grit, and physicality helps us a lot. He's one of the few undersized wings I'd take for Gilas.

we can take ukrainian families (with their children), naturalized the parents through judicial process. once naturalized, they will become filipino citizens. their children, too, will become filipino citizens without undergoing the grueling naturalization process, provided that they permanently reside here.
