You think Chot's coaching is going to elavate Kouame's game?
I wish so. I could only wish.

BTW, how did kouame perform during the 2nd window last February under coach Choke Reyes?
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Against NZ which we lost to by 25, Kouame contributed 5 pts.

        Philippines 63 – Ravena 23, Ramos 18, Bolick 10, Kouame 5, Pogoy 4, Rosario 2, Williams 1, Erram 0, Montalbo 0, Gomez de Liano 0, Navarro 0, Tungcab 0.

Going by Chot's logic, we need a super import that can score 25 points per game to win at least in the asian level.

        • AK34 and WillNav was under utilized during that very forgettable Feb. Window.

            There you go!

I wonder how Gilas would have faired vs. South Korea in last year's 3rd window of the Asia Cup qualifiers had it was Choke Reyes who coached Gilas? That is given of course that Choke Reyes had the same preparation & training period with Gilas that coach Tab got.

Well he sucked under Chot. No sugarcoating it. He only posted 5 points on 5 shots and only got 4 rebounds.

We wouldve lost. First he would have relegated Balti as PF and backup C. No 3 pt shots. No perimeter play. Navarro would have barely played because he is not good enough as a DDO 3. Dwight would only be pre Gilas level Dwight. He was not impressive in the US and we could credit Tabs program for his development. Kai wouldve been limited to an abangers big. No leading the secondary break. No drives.

So Chot wouldve brought in his TNT boys, Pogoy, Rosario and Erram. Pogoy would have played 3. Even with Kouame and Kai, we wouldve been blownout by 20 to 30 pts.Hyun Jung Lee wouldve run circles on Troy

Losing by say 4 to 8 pts in both games would be acceptable for me. But losing by an average of 15 or more pts. in that 2-game series vs. Korea is unacceptable.

SoKor is already developing these kinds of players. I've yet to see these guys play on a high level in the senior level internationally, and I dunno how many similar players SoKor has, but this development concerns me.

Shows how they are at development compared to us. The closest we have are Balti and Dwight Ramos (who is a Fil-foreigner).

SBP should work more on trying to find and develop homegrowns that could approximate the players I mentioned. Scouting for Fil-foreigners and naturalization candidates is good and all, but we will need to develop the bulk of our homegrown prospects. And of course, work on tactics.

                    • In the US, our SBP problems would be solved by asking help from some "Goodfellas." haha

I was actually imagining a Star Wars world at times. Jedi mind tricks would be useful.

Mind tricks only work on weak-minded people, though.

You would see your typical PBA plays and lineup, his comfort zone 3-4 guard midget lineup in the first half and once he sees that shit get torched by the taller, well coordinated Koreans(as a team) he would try to go big with Troy Rosario/Wil Navarro, Balti and Sotto and fail miserably. Final quarter you'd probably see Bolick, Montalbo, Pogoy, Kouame and Sotto on the floor at once down 20 points. You will never ever see the kind of liberty that Kai, Navarro, Dwight, Balti and Tamayo had under Tab. It would be a Bolick, Pogoy, Wright, Fajardo, Japeth mascot team, a shitty branding campaign(pba) that plays shit basketball instead of a well developed fundamental team that could perform well both individually and as a unit.

If that's the case, then Chot would frankly be better in a Perasol role. Seems to be a good recruiter. However, like Perasol, Chot needs to find a competent coach who can handle the tactics while he manages the player recruitment and all that.

Look at UP. We recruited well, got a good coach in Goldwin, and there. A nice offensive system, discipline (for the most part, no thanks to Ricci), and tough defense, plus tactical adjustments from Goldwin got us the championship.

Pero, since it's the SBP management and Chot we're talking about, ayun. No long-term program.

I actually don't want Ricci in Gilas. His defense is suspect against superior talent and he doesn't shoot that well from outside to be a legitimate outside threat, like a Heading and/or a Lassiter.
