    • For now as a fan the guy was desperate to be included in the history book as the coach for 2023 because the dude has all the backers as his wall.

      • PH basketball is already messed up coz of SBP's incompetence. So if some of guys are hoping again that Gilas to lose big time again for wake-up call reasons, it's now useless as our basketball is going nowhere with this kind of federation putting a clown coach at helm.

The thing is, players who are 23 or 24 are not yet on their peak. A player usually reaches his peak at 27 or 28 yrs of age.

How old are Thirdy & Dwight Ramos when they played in the B-league? Di ba parang 23 yrs old pa lang sila noon? Its obvious that they have not yet reach their peak.

Gilas would be on a disadvantage if our players are just in their early 20's while yung mga national players ng ibang countries are in their late 20's & early 30's. Nasa peak na yung mga kalaban natin while tayo bagito pa lang at kulang sa experience.
Yes always a possibility to leave for the pros. But if we get them like 19 to 25 then they can go to pros. What is important is the system and chemistry familiarity will be built during does times. So if ever we will have one month prep time for FIBA windows, it a much better integration than the current hugot PBA/NCAA/UAAP. For major tournaments hopefully 2 to 3 months prep time. Again trying to solve the chemistry and familiarity issues.

Yes. First is we find a system that is appropriate for our players and that can be competitive internationally. Lets say Tabs system. Then we have to be consistent. For the next 10 years that ayatem should be the base for our national team. This way guys who played for this system will just need a refresher any time they are called up. All national teams do this I guess. Ginobili played for the NBA but he fit in seamlessly with the Argentinean national team. No need to maintain a permanent national team.

But aside from the system it is important that the main guys are exposed to high level competition. A guy like Junemar should have moved to an international league a long time ago. That way he is already used to defending international players.

Junemar was offered assistance to play in the summer league but decline. Hope new breeds of players like Balti will be able to do so. But as we saw, he requested his family to join him. Dont know how many other leagues will be able to do that. Hopefully, not only B. League as I really don't see a significant improvements in skills if our players go there.

It's not just the men assigned to our players, e. It also tests their shooting when one of those lengthy imports rotates onto them. And when they're driving, they might meet a taller, more athletic, and/or longer import at the rim when they do get past their man.

Length, athleticism, and height is a factor not just in man, but also in team defense and rotations.

And for that system to be the base, like I repeatedly say, we have to teach that system to the coaches and players starting from the youth level.

This is where SBP comes in. I hope Nenad is successful with the Tab plays. It is hard to evangelize a system when every coach brings his system and essentially starts from scratch. In Nenads interview he was noncommittal sbout the system. He said Chot is still the main coach that they will use a system that is also good for the young players development. I hope Nenads judgement steers him away from Chots headless chicken basketball.

SBP will keep shuffling players. and it looks like theyll shuffle coaching too. are we that confident that we have a solid cohesive team by next year?
That's what they call "chop suey" bro.

Come to think of it, who have coached Gilas in the last 2 years?
We went from coach Mike Dickel (remember Dickel coached Gilas in the 1st window of the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers in February 2020), to coach Jong Uichico, to coach Tab, to Choke Reyes, coach Nenad Vucinic & then Choke Reyes again.

Coach pa lang yun!!! I have yet to mention the Gilas players.

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time.
