  • everything is within an arm's reach or a drive away.

"It's just that the Japanese culture reflects in the way they handle things professionally. Every single aspect is excellent, crafted with care," Parks said. "It's extensive, but they help you out massively with those opportunities. It's lovely. The accessibility is great."

Then there's the schedule. A typical B.League season runs eight months from September to May with a four-month offseason in between. The PBA runs on a irregular timeline that depends on when it is able to finish its two- or three-conference season. The 2021-22 season ran from last July to April. Only six weeks separated it from the new 2022-23 calendar.

    • What was Balti's reason for begging off? I thought it was a personal or his manager's decision and not his team preventing him since he just signed a contract?

Anyways Dwight, Thirdy and the others are made available except for people who might never don a GILAS jersey again. That's a lot better than begging for PBA teams to lend 1 player each

      • After 2023 WC, I mean 2024 and Beyond. Hopefully, Ron Harper Jr. Will play for us as obe of our available NPs.

        FC: Kai, AJ
        F: Baltazar, Tamayo, Oftana, Quiambao
SG/SF/PF: Ron Harper Jr., Caelum, (maybe) Lopez
SG/SF: Dwight, Parks, Perez, Thirdy, Dave
        PG/SG: Jordan Heading
PG: (Not sure who will be lead Guard by then but maybe) Kiefer, Dalph

Something like this will be my ideal pool.

Oops. Almost No Pba Players. Hahaha

        • Being a newly hired guy it is understandable that you need to prioritize your commitment with your new employer just like in a corporate setup, let him establish first then hopefully early next year the guy is already settled. The good thing about the dude his commitment on the national team is unquestionable but on the other side he also need to bring food on the table for his family. Dwight, the Ravena bros., BRP and Kenmark are already settled in their respective B. League teams hence committing themselves in the coming FIBA sanctioned tournaments during off season is a no brainer, it’s just unfortunate that Bobby Jr. and KP wasn’t invited because of different issues here and there, as for Kenmark I also had no idea either, all I know the dude is 6’9 with a decent work rate during his last stint when coach TB is still involved and already gained valuable experience playing at Division two. Maybe involving him alongside Tzaddy to provide some warm bodies during scrimmages is a better idea. Oh well we are not part of the coaching staff, just an observer and a fan.

As I said its B. league is much open to fiba tournaments.

Firstly, schedule wise is needed to be this long for financial purposes. Unleas you can show us if having less games will produce more income to PBA. I really want to see how is that possible.

We didn't have Thirdy in a window last year, Kiefer in Feb, Dwight in SEA games and now Balti in Fiba Asia Cup.

Kobe plays SF right? Locally he plays PF.

if we based in number of teams or close to PBA, just look how NBL run things.. less games but they earn more.. attendances, tv revenues, merchandise..

It really is possible but the PBA is too stubborn to adopt to modern day things..

Here's my take about PBA vs. B-league as to which league is better as far as making our national team players available: I think for some qualifying windows, we may miss a No. of our Gilas players playing in the B-league. But that's ok becoz we can't perfect things naman eh. But the thing is, during the FIBA tournaments proper, like the World Cup & Asia Cup, all these B-league Gilas players would be available & the Gilas team will have ample time of preparation & training. That's becoz the B-league calendar is synchronized with FIBA calendar.
We can't say the same about our bulok na liga na PBA whose calendar isn't synchronized with FIBA.

Remember our ill-dated Gilas team in the 2019 World Cup only had about 2 weeks of practice?
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Thats in college. Like Oftana played 5 or 4 in San beda but plays 3 in PBA

Let compare how much is to run a NBL team, ticket sale, merchandise. Give figures. We all know why we can't do regional basketball here.Even MBPL doesn't do it in a national scale

I agree with you in some aspect. How long did Thirdy and Dwight prep time for Feb windows. How about Sea games prep and now Asian Games. It would be alright if we could see consistent player availabilities and trainings. That would be ideal. But even B.League players are not consistent, Dwight miss SEA games, Balti will miss Fiba Asia. Thirdy also miss last year.

Again much more available than PBA but we are still missing key players. I would like a dedicated pool like what Coach Tab had with no pro obligation. Just for a certain period or batch. Of course all of the plan was thrown away because of pandemic

was explained numerous times here that it can be done.. PBA is just stubborn
