That's the only info I have on Liwag
Liwag is a 6-foot-6 rookie who made his Generals debut during NCAA Season 97. The native of Cavite normed 9.33 points, 8.67 rebounds, and 1.67 blocks per game during his rookie year.

Gilas are looking to add more bodies to its pool for its build-up to the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers’ third window. Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Allen Liwag was part of the national team’s workouts yesterday at Moro Lorenzo Gym in Quezon City and was again invited for today. Meanwhile, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas […]

The Philippine Basketball Association has tweaked its schedule in the upcoming Philippine Cup to allow the TNT Tropang Giga to field its core when it is needed for international competitions.

“We’ve moved TNT’s games earlier in the conference to give them time to prepare and participate in the Fiba windows,” PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said Thursday during the league’s media day at Novotel in Cubao.

According to Marcial, the PBA has spoken to Gilas Pilipinas program director Chot Reyes to discuss and accommodate the needs of the national team for international competitions, including the coming Fiba windows.

Marcial’s statement came at the heels of the announcement by the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas that Gilas consultant Nenad Vucinic will handle the team that will participate in the Fiba third window slated in New Zealand.

The Philippines will play the Kiwis and India in that window.

The SBP has also released an 18-man pool for the national squad, which does not include any PBA player.

Marcial, however, said the league is prepared in the event that the arrangement with the national program will remain the same despite the appointment of the new coach.

“If they need a hybrid squad that includes the TNT core, we are already ready for that,” Marcial said that.

Does this mean we will get key players (Kib, Pogoy, Rosario) after the third window? Hehehe
Aye, PBA presents itself in this situation. There goes the H-epals again. Hopefully, no more pba players.

I would prefer the young bloods carl/balti/kikiam coz they could switch 4-5 positions.
I couldn’t find erram as effective player in international games. He’s Not mobile and couldn’t attack the baskets. Most of his offense is outside shooting.

        • I think only Erram and Kib should make the final 12 and the only reason Im adding Kib is if one of RJ and SJ gets injured, it would be nice to have another PG.

I think he is best as a 3rd PG. Gilas shouldve brought another PG to be honest.

I don't see Kib competing against better teams. They should have brought in other PGs really, Jerom, LJ or Mamuyac. Erram would be nice as he is the 2nd best defensive big, after Japeth. As backup C he would be a big help. He will also allow Balti to start.

                • Might be BS especially from Homer but I hope it's true

Multiple sources told me coach Tab Baldwin is set to reclaim his post as program director for Gilas.

Which explains why his close ally, Nenad Vucinic, was recently tapped to coach the third window of the 2023 FIBA Asian Cup qualifiers.

He’s lousy defender during the feb qualifiers. That’s just my observation if you still want to add pba guys.

Yes he was not that good last time. But his previous international stints and his PBA games show he is a decent post defender with some rim protection. Plus he will play with Balti, Tamayo and KQiam. These guys are longer and quicker than who he played with last time. Chiu will just be outrun or PNRd to death by Korea. While KQiam will be too small to be a rim protector or to defend against Ratliffe.

                      • Im not saying Kib is ideal. Im just saying I think Gilas is one injury away from Kib.

                        • no need for any TNT core to add to college core. sounds like a PR move by PBA/confusion on who the program director really is/just plain disinformation

If true, SBP must exploit this. Give him a free hand in the youth program, and then have him mentor the promising coaches here in the Philippines.

Well this would require him resigning from Ateneo..

A small sacrifice for a greater gain. We need a new generation of forward-thinking coaches.
