Originally posted by Stevy View PostYep, aside from this, I really wonder who made him resign? An IBN poster here said it was Al and RG. Snow a day ago said that he's 100 percent sure it's not Al. Who's calling the shots really? SBP is a damn mess. Tsk tsk!
I would say it had to do with the exodus of young talents to the B. League and other foreign leagues. The PBA has always viewed Tab negatively, so they pressured the SBP to “undo” everything by making themselves relevant again. Everything goes back to the PBA. They have been the troublemakers of any NT program as far back as the NCC days.
Not sure I should buy the angle that the SBP wants a Filipino coach to call the shots in the world. Sounds weak IMO.

Someone here once commented that they've been trying to set CTB up for failure and if that is indeed the case, then the timing of the offer is a bit sus. It's like when there are no pros available, they'll just use CTB. If he wins, they win. If he loses, they still win because it kind of proves their point that foreign coaches are just as fallible and justifies the appointment of a pinoy coach in the WC for next year. Personally, I would want to see how CCR & co. handle a mostly amateur unit, for educational purposes.Originally posted by thatweirdguy View PostProbably this. They kinda know themselves that were going to lose big with Chot anyway so now they'll try to drag down Tab with him and shut up their haters. 2023 IMO is a lost cause already with how they f#cked up everything. There is no recovering from all the things they have done. We're going to get humiliated the only question is who would be foolish enough to volunteer to have their careers tarnished. I pity the players though cause I know they going to get bashed hard next year for things that are out of their control
If so, that's a shame. Back to band-aid solutions and stagnation, unless we can get someone who has the respect of all stakeholders, enough of it to actually implement the changes needed in the SBP and the NT programs.
Tab's team could have been a foundation for a long-term program for Gilas. One that develops players for FIBA play and maybe overseas careers, has a system fit for FIBA ball, and trains coaches to coach that specific system and gives them pointers in player development.
