I just have a strong feeling lang talaga that Chot is on his way out. The clamor for his ouster as Gilas coach is just too strong."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

eventually, insisting chot as a head coach in next year's world cup can be more damaging to Gilas and SBP. the ticket sales for every Gilas games might be lower than expected since the fans have no confidence to the team.Attack

Here's why:
- CTB is abroad and won't be coming back to MNL for at least several more days (maybe even a couple more weeks).
- UAAP S85 is set to begin around September, which means teams like ADMU will likely begin training by July (at the latest).
- In all likelihood, ADMU, which will be very hungry to redeem itself after losing to UP in S84, will begin training even earlier... maybe in June... maybe even before CTB returns.
- What all this means is that CTB, his coaching staff, and his players (a good number of whom made up the Gilas Cadets before) simply won't be available.
- It's just not realistic and practical to call for any major coaching change right now unless heaven & earth are moved, and our entire basketball calendar and structure in the country are revamped, which obviously isn't going to happen.
- Now, if the UAAP calendar (and the calendar of other leagues) were better synced with the international calendar, maybe a way can be found.
- But that just isn't the case. Our systems and structures in Philippine basketball just aren't built that way.
- Will things ever change? I dunno. I've been hoping for that change for much of the past decade.
- I think the last possible catalyst is hosting the FIBAWC next year. I'm pretty sure our structures, systems, and calendars will revolve around the FIBAWC, but the bigger question is what happens after 2023?
- Do we revert to pre-FIBAWC structures, systems, and calendars, or do we emerge with structures, systems, and calendars more aligned with international norms & standards?"
- From Enzo Flojo in AJEF Group.
Tough. Schedules of leagues in the Philippines should really be adjusted into a fiba friendly sched.
As he said, in 2023 WC, high chance local leagues will adjust or even give way for hosting of WC 2023. Yun na lang pagasa natin. Lolsigpic

Originally posted by wnoxThis is very true. Media people are wary of saying these things about Chot in view of his influence with MVP. But truthfully his record speaks more of resilience and failure and ability to spin the story than real success.
9th place 2007 FIBA ASIA Championships
2nd place 2013 FIBA Championships (Lost to Iran)
2014 World Championships failed to get past eliminations 1-4 record
7th place 2014 Asian Games - Shooting in your own basket - Chot's Genius
2018 BASKET BRAWL with Australia - Suspended by FIBA Chot was heard saying hit or hurt the opponent 89-53 score in our own stadium
2nd place 2022 SEA GAMES Lost the gold after 33 years Chot made a crucial error not knowing that you can field fil foreign players and lost to a reinforced Indonesia squad
If this was your record in the corporate world , I cannot imagine how you can get reinstated 3 times by the same employer. It is simply amazing!.

This is what bothers me. We could have continued the direction that Tab set instead of hiring Chot. Could have promoted Nenad after Tab's resignation.
We had Go, Rangel, Tungcab, the Nieto twins, Bulanadi, Suerte, Navarro, and even Ange in the Gilas pool. So that's 9 players. Unfortunately, Go, Bulanadi, Suerte, and the Nieto twins were released after Tab resigned.
Then we had Dwight, Thirdy, Kiefer, Kobe, Cariño, and Javi in the B.League, we could call them up as well (especially given that Dwight and Thirdy were called up only after Tab resigned). Juan, Lopez, and Bolick were free agents.
We already had some manpower for the FIBA window, and possibly the SEA Games. So why resort to PBA players as a new direction?

I guess it is still the Chot Reyes Show?
But, this looks like a motherhood statement.
