Probably due to some of their players would only be available after the NBA playoffs, though most of them though like Olynk and Corey joseph for instance, are already eliminated, while Powell (mavericks) and Barrett (NYK) and maybe even Tristan Thompson (Boston) could go deep in the playoffs. if they could go full force with their NBA players, they could do some damage in the OQT, but without chemistry, this team would fall prey against European powerhouses, remember the 2019 Team USA, with borderline all stars like Tatum, Mitchell, Smart and Walker trained for almost a month but lost to the Serbians and French (and to the Aussies during friendlies)

haha partida these are legit NBA players unlike the PBA players who suited up for Gilas in 2019 (most are only good domestically)

I think could win off talent but Canada has a tendency to underperform, not to mention missing guys like Murray, and Boucher, SGA to injury. Don’t have much expectations for this team

You'd think the PBA/SBP would learn their lessons from the 2019 WC but we still rely on "last minute hugot"

Something really has to be done to at least make the PBA schedule more friendly to international competition. Preparation really is key dito, e. The best players we have right now are in the PBA, although I do think that some of the cadets may exceed them in terms of international competition. That's why we need the PBA players available not just for the event itself, but also for the preparation.

This topic and suggestion has been discussed a hundred times,and the PBA will not bend backwards for anything that's not beneficial to them.

Yeah, which is why we'll need to rely on players who play outside the PBA. That, plus the Gilas draftees.

I think if the cadet line up will be successful (doing better than expected), that may bring some change to the PBA. It would be very embarrasing for the cadet program to do well but the PBA "send outs" to be constantly having embarassing performances

Also,hopefully the upcoming NBL will be successful enough,that they will have PBA level players,and they will do the opposite of what the PBA does when it comes to GILAS.

never. and many never appreciate what sbp is doing and it isnt cheap either. to be honest i do hope mvp stop bankrolling gilas and his pba teams after 2023. hope he can just focus on ateneo and beda and maybe pour sponsorships on esports. i dont think having pba team is rewarding anymore.

MVP leaving the PBA would be catastrophic for Philippine basketball. Imagine all the good players ending up with the SMC teams.. and SBP would lose a lot of power.

We just had to be humiliated again and again in order for us to learn our lesson. If ever we lose some of our coming games expect the same reasons to resurface. We could've one this game or that game if only player x was included or had practiced longer with the team. Book it

For ths other 3, I hope they will be in Future Gilas Draft. They are likely to be.

Atleast pba can still say "May Contribution Kami" with Special Draft.

That's why we should pray for Blackwater's failure this season.. hahahhahahaha.. if they will be become dead last this season then they will hold that 1st pick.. then sbp can bring/elevate marquee gilas core in the pba regular draft (for sure it's baltazar) then special draft (either thirdy or Ramos).. that players that I mentioned should sbp hold beyond 2023 for future gilas commitments.. sbp should learn the lesson the way they did in gilas 1 before.. and remember blackwater also holds another 2 first rounder (from tnt and SMB).. so highly chance sbp can bring some players aside from baltazar to the draft...

do you really want thirdy to apply for the draft or join the special draft even he has contract that will last at least 2023 with san-en? that will create some conflicts right there.. i don’t think that will happen. a player is under contract for SBP and San-En?

I thinking long term.. And besides Thirdy already says he see himself in the PBA one day.. This is not all on Thirdy, But all other marquee cadets that should SBP take them beyond 2023.. Dwight Ramos for example, after UAAP he has no other choice but to play in the PBA because he can't play in Asian PRO leagues because he's a dual citizen and he's not good enough to be a world import.. So the only league that he can join is the PBA.. So how can he commit in Gilas long term if he was taken from SMC? He also needs to play professional basketball after UAAP.. Another one is Baltazar.. Sure he can join Thirdy in the B-League, But is he interested? Is his handler (Pineda) will allow him to go overseas? If he's interested in B-League then he should take that this year already and skip his final season in the UAAP this year.. Di mo mapipigilan mga yan to play in the PBA.. If you hate PBA then hate it but don't force these players to skip in the PBA because of unavailability of their services for Gilas.. They need living, money, etc... Sure B-League and other Asian leagues are better than PBA but not all players like Thirdy, Kobe or Kai has that mindset... May iba na gusto lang dito maglaro because they want to be in their families nearby while working... That's why SBP should hoard these players and not end like the Gilas 1 situation that after 2011 FIBA Asia eh the OG players of Gilas was one by one taken by SMC group.. Particular Lassiter, Lutz and Aguilar...

baltazar even has offers from overseas.. even contemplating to play but stay put and play another year with DLSU..

some of the best young players should play outside PBA with some in PBA. balance things out.. best players plays outside RP.. the ricci, the baltazar, the kobe’s, the ildefonso, the tamayo’s, the belangel’s should play outside RP, ramos can still play in nbl.. the likes of the nieto’s should just stay in RP. They’re players are made just for PBA and they’re players are made to play outside PBA..

But as i said depending on the players' situation.. Wag mo ipilit yung iba kung gusto nila mag abroad or stay here.. My point here is SBP should take this players' committed to Gilas long term beyond 2023... Nakuha mo ba point ko? This is scenario that we already see before in Gilas 1 batch.. What happened to those players after 2011? Nakuha ng SMC karamihan.. The others are regress.. Di mo kasi nakuha point ko eh.. My point is they should hoard the marquee Gilas prospects long term especially if they will entry in the PBA... You know why Calvin Oftana go straight to the PBA draft rather stay in Gilas cadets? Because SBP and MVP thinking long term.. If Oftana joins Gilas draft then expect Northport will take him.. Then MVP group change their plan and instead put him in regular draft to avoid him to get by evil empire.. Now, If you are MVP group and Blackwater let's say grab that first pick overall.. Anung gagawin mo? That is the opportunity to put these players in their camp long term...

like i said, they’re players who are made for PBA and they’re players who are made outside overseas. no need to special draft this players and have 2 contracts. that’s no way that will happen..

let them play outside the country longer than 2023 without joining the PBA draft and special draft... PBA is not the only league in the world.

the more players we have playing outside RP will improve the quality of our NT.. for sure they will put gilas clause on their contract the same as thirdy
