I'll hope they can see it because those can be basis for really good marketing strategies ESPECIALLY the ineligibles in Asian Games. Of course if there are some non-eligibles that can get in the roster why not. The claim will just be the true and strongest gilas.
After a decade, if results are positive, it can be used as proof why hagop should be abolished or at least reviewed.

Once we develop top level talent and have players at an NBA, Euroleague or NBL level, the PBA will barely become an option but that starts with developing talent.
That has to be the core purpose of the SBP.
Produce players.. 16 to 21 year old , Spartan like camp full time player development

Yeah, the PBA's support has been unreliable since 2014. We didn't bring our best players in 2015, and if memory serves, we could have pulled out in the 2017 Asia Cup and 2018 Asian Games. To top it all off, the 10 day preparation period between the Commissioner's Cup Finals and the WC.

And again, I ask the question, apart from giving ample support for the windows, what positive has the PBA done for Gilas since 2015?

That's hugot craming .. like hoping Clarkson plays as a local and we get a NBA all star center as NP.. yeah like that is a reflection of our program.

The best is just to hope that we start with a new program for 2027 or 2031 na lang. C'mon we weren't born yesterday. This is so predictable

This change in direction, God. I really hope this doesn't affect our ability to compete in the long run. Otherwise, it's back to being whipping boys for SoKor, Iran, and even Japan.

Actually, Personally I have no problems about including pba players. In fact, I think we need to especially in the Guards position

It is how and when will the pba teams lend their players.(I hope asap)

Because that will be the same in uaap and ncaa schools. Swerte lang may pandemic, thats why all college players were available in the pool last year with coach tab

It is more tricky now. We have 3 categories

            Pba Players
            Collegiate Players
            Overseas Players

And all of them have unique and different availability.

So, it is likely na may mga hugot talaga

Wait, I'm lost here. SMC has beef with Chot? They did lend Japeth and June Mar to Gilas when Chot was head coach.

If we are going to take the PBA Gilas route, the SBP might as well assign a SMC coach. They have the best collection of talents. I honestly would rather see Victolero coach than Chot.

I appreciate the addition of PBA players, so long as they're the right ones (those who are FIBA-fit, and/or have had a good FIBA track record), and they fit the long-term timeline of the program.

It's really more about a new system and culture. Changing that 18 months before the WC is not a good idea, generally. You need a lot of time, and the right players to implement that and execute successfully. Also, the coach will need time to adjust to his players too, like Chot will need to adjust to taller wings like Navarro, Lebron, and then bigs like Kouame and Kai (if he will at all), and learn new systems that are fit for international play.

Victolero could develop players, actually. Aris Dionisio became a 3/small-ball 4 under Victolero, and Sangalang thrived under him. Plus, his defense is good. I think Tab called Victolero the local coach who impressed him the most. He can adjust his system to involve bigs and forwards too (Sangalang and Abueva), which can help Kai, Tamayo, Baltazar, and even Kouame get more quality touches.

Question is, could he translate development to Gilas, and would his defense fly in a FIBA game?

Chito had the tandem of nimes and taha in the cardinals but we’re not top tier team to match up with the likes baste, letran and beda. I couldn’t say he developed the players but when he left mapua and atoy co came in, the team fucked up.

We couldn’t really tell if he could translate it in fiba game coz ph leagues are not adopting the fiba rules.

Reasonable way to find out would be to assign Chito the SEA games coaching job.

Victolero's defense reminds me of the way Egypt defended us in the Abduhlah Cup. It remains to be seen if we will be successful under him, but if the SMC won't give the same support to Chot as they did to CYG, then assigning him is a no-brainer for me.

The question is, will Chot let go of the HC role?

I think only the UAAP is under FIBA rules.

                                Just the bare minimum, ayos.

Marcio and Chan were our best options for SG, though. Chan performed well in FIBA events (shot 40% from deep at the WC), well, when he was still in his prime.

As for Ginebra, I thought that Japeth, Greg, and Scottie were good options at the time.

                                Oh, my goodness. Political bullshit.
