I hope that's what SBP is gearing towards - to develop a sustainable national program.instead of the last minute hugot style that led to the 2019 embarrassment

Originally posted by robert0326The problem if some of these players will end up in PBA after 2023.. For sure majority of these players who are cadets as of now will be a PBA players after 2023.. It will be again ala Gilas 1 scenario where they end up in PBA then the program that Toroman build before were vanished.. Lassiter, Lutz, Greg and Japeth could be vital players for Gilas after 2011 if they were continue to be trained as a team even Toroman is not there.. But Chot changed all of the dynamics of the program.. Leaving the Gilas 1 players stuck their careers at PBA... Baracael should accept Middle east offer before.. Japeth should continue his US dream after Gilas 1..
The key here is CONTINUOUSLY so that those who go to the PBA can be "replenished"

1. Ramos
2. Baltazar
3. Thirdy
4. Edu
5. Panopio
6. Tamayo
I not include Kouame because he can't play PBA as local, while Kai will be busy in international and hopefully NBA.. Evil empire can't grab these two.. I not include also Heading even i like him in long term because he was now in Terrafirma once he enters PBA (Panopio can replace him), Terrafirma is SMC's farm team.. These players that i mentioned hopefully stayed playing overseas professional league or if they play in the PBA then SBP should act seriously to get them in either 3 MVP teams or Blackwater... Just like what they did to secured Oftana... Other names in Gilas pool that i not mentioned then i don't care if they will land in evil empire (SMC), their farm teams or some independent teams in the PBA.. If they land in either 3 MVP teams or Blackwater then much better...
If I were the upcoming NBL,they should have something in their charter a revolving door policy, everyone is welcome regardless of where they played at any stage of their playing career,in fact go the opposite of the PBA on everything.

From Chot...
Looking at the future of the Philippines, Reyes sees great potential in well-rounded Thirdy Ravena ("… He can guard anyone from the 1 to 4 and that’s what Gabe [Norwood] did for us… "), Matt Nieto (" …He has the size, he has the savvy, he has the smarts, he has the defensive prowess to excel in that [point guard] role as well… "), Dwight Ramos (" … He’s a guy that can essentially [fill in] the right spot we have now as the designated three point shooter like that of the past that we had Jeff Chan, Larry Fonancier… "), and Kai Sotto (" … He’s that type of a player where he’s a generational player… ").

Originally posted by robert0326I will not surprise if IBL (Indonesian Pro league) will surpass PBA as best basketball league in SEA (OUTSIDE ABL) due to this reasons:
1. Allowing Naturalized players as local players.. Guys like Prosper, Senegalese recruits and former naturalized players likes of Johnson, Hargrove and Eugenio can play in IBL w/o restriction.. Thus, increasing the competition of the league...
2. 100% support for the National team.. No if, no buts, No hesitation.. They all out support for their national team.. Even allowing cadets to play in IBL w/o any hesitation.. They know that national team success will be also success of their PRO league, Thus, increase popularity of sport in their country..
3. They have real salary cap rules, Good treatment for all of their teams (Although still have super strong and weak teams) and transparent in all transactions of their league
4. And allowing 2 imports aside from naturalized players.. Same reason as no.1..
This is exactly opposite of what PBA is now today.. If not their super talents likes of Castro, Fajardo, Romeo, etc and undying popularity of Ginebra, eh this league is already Die below 6ft underground..
