    West
    IRI - 2
    JOR - 2
    LIB - 2
    GCC - 1
    Central Asia - 1

    East
    PHL - 1
    JPN - 1
    KOR - 1
    Aus-NZ NBL - 2
    CHN/EASL club - 1
    TPE - 1
    ABL - 1

Those countries/regions not mentioned like IND/South Asia, INA, THA, VIE, Guam/South Pacific, etc. would be categorized in the Div. 2 or the AFC Cup equivalent in basketball and would have their own tournament concurrent with the Div. 1.

This might be a pipe dream for now but I'm optimistic that such format would be possible in the next 10 years.
Pro clubs tourneys are different than national team tournaments, Almost all of professional ballclubs can hire minimum of 2 imports or more... HK Eastern Lions can match up toe to toe vs established ballclubs team in Asia.. Example if Singapore Slingers hires 2 legit NBAers (ex: Kemba Walker and Demarcus Cousins), plus hiring an Asian import that is also very good.... Do you consider them in Div.2 squad? How about 24 teams in that tourney? Add 1 ballclub from CHN (since they are considered best professional league in Asia) into 2 teams then separate EASL club, Actually Macau, Bay Area and HK Lions (plus Mongolian PRO league) can compete who will be best representative from Greater China region... While another 1 from TPE... This is realistic with 24 teams will compete:

    West Asia:

    IRI - 2
    JOR - 2
    LIB - 2
    GCC - 2
West Asia (PLE, SYR, IRQ) - 2
    IND - 1
    Central Asia - 1

    East Asia:

    PHI - 1
    JPN - 1
    KOR - 1
    CHN - 2
    Greater China/East Asia - 1
    TPE - 1
    ABL - 1
    NBL - 2
    NZ NBL - 1
    SEABA - 1

This is realistic... In PRO league tourneys, no need for Div.2 tournaments since Ball club tournaments are more competitive than national team level...

It looks like the same teams are qualified. The EASL in October is the same as the one that keeps on getting postponed. The upcoming Champion's week in March is just a pre-season to the October tournament.

This Champion's week is weird for having a group stage with 4 teams but each team only faces 2 other teams. Is an additional game day too much to ask?

If all else fails, they'll just probably have to send Ginebra or whoever wins the last trophy (and the second placer) before the next EASL season. Looking past 2023/24, the PBA has to get their shit together. I would hate the EASL to be the reason why the PBA can't lend anymore players for Gilas and we end up with an all-B.League/KBL team with a few reinforcements in the college ranks in games that actually matter like the FIBA Asia Cup/Qualifiers, World Cup Qualifiers, and OQT's.

Why blame EASL? Your league doesn't have solution to cooperate with EASL? They do the right thing to introduce Asian basketball just like Euroleague in Europe... One of the reasons why Asian basketball can't level up is because they can't manage to cooperate each other... All other continents have Champions league (BAL in African region, Euroleague, Euro Cup in Europe and BCL for Americans)... Only Asia has none... You still want Asian basketball to be separate themselves and left behind?

Is that you robert with birthday and ATM pin? You clearly misunderstood my post like how this robert guy with a Saudi flag can post a little in English but is really stupid when replying to others because his comprehension skills are that of a 7-year old.

                In the vernacular:

"I would hate the EASL to be the reason" - Sana huwag maging dahilan ang EASL
"why the PBA can't lend anymore players for Gilas" - kung bakit ayaw mag-pahiram ang PBA ng player sa Gilas

But you don't understand Tagalog anyway, so bahala ka na diyan. (it means "God loves you" in my language)

I'm not blaming the EASL. PBA players and even coaches/staff are supposed to be skilled professionals playing/coaching/working from contract to contract and just play when and where their team tells them to play.

I'm only presenting the possible post-World Cup situation of 2 PBA teams playing in a proper EASL season as proposed (home-and-away group stage and knockout brackets every Wednesday during an on-going PBA/KBL/B.League season, not this makeshift Championship week) along with an unchanged PBA schedule (3 conferences, conflicting schedules with FIBA/FIBA Asia windows), there will be players from those 2 qualified teams in the EASL that might not be considered for a Gilas Pool invite because you can scratch off Wednesdays (even Tuesday travel out and Thursday flight back to Manila for away games) for the EASL, making it harder for them to be even considered for a Gilas call-up.

I trust the EASL, it's the PBA Board and the SBP that I don't trust because it's always been a huge deal to get anyone from the PBA to play for Gilas in this cycle alone knowing that they only had the SEA Games to show for and messed it up, not just with that one loss... but all those DNP's to players they called up but never used, now two teams have a bit more games to play. The flipside is what I'm wishfully hoping for when there are no disruptions to the PBA schedule (assuming they align it with the FIBA calendar and actually give the Wednesdays for the EASL) and have players who can choose which competition to prioritize if they are in the Gilas pool, their team is at least in the semis every conference, and they make it far in the EASL. The worst thing that could happen is the PBA realizing that they're too stubborn to adapt and just treat the EASL like how they treated ABL exhibitions before.

since AFC will start around the 23-24 EASL season, what PBA should do is whoever the champ and the runner up of the governors cup will represent us..

If the PBA starts in September or October, they probably send the Commisioner's Cup Champion and Gov's Cup Champion, and if BGSM able to win this coming Gov's Cup, the other finalist will be the other representative for the EASL 2023-24 season

The 2023-2024 EASL season is in line with the FIBA Calendar. So, it will not be a problem for the PBA if they want to lend. And EASL is now sanctioned by FIBA for a 10-year partnership.

It's usual the champ and the runner up.. regardless what conference PBA picks..

                        • To clear this up, I think PBA should just hold a mini KO tournament for all 2022/23 conference champions and runners-up once all conferences are done. The 2 finalists will then be the EASL representative of PH/PBA. I believe there's a financial incentive once a team qualifies for EASL so such tournament is going to carry weight and significance to the point where games might induce sell-out crowds due to intensity of match-up.

                            • TNT to sign Prince Ibeh

                              https://www.spin.ph/basketball/tnt-i...230131-fbfirst

Ibeh, according to the TNT mentor, is just waiting to secure his clearance with current team TaiwanBeer in the T1League, before coming over to join the Tropang Giga.

?We?re trying to secure his letter of clearance, but more or less nag-OK na siya,? said Lastimosa. ?So once nagsabi siya na OK na yung letter of clearance niya, good na kami.?

Shortly after his stint with the Batang Pier, Ibeh hooked up with the HeroBears in Taiwan.

A person close to Ibeh though, said the import has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave TaiwanBeer anytime.

In taiwan they have multiple imports, easl is like glorified ligang labas as your lucky if you get one month worth contract for (pba teams)
To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..
