Because for sure Philippines and Japan can capable now to conduct home and away games, same as Hong Kong (Bay Area's base) since in 6th window, China's final 2 home games will be held in Hong Kong.... So it's Korea and Taiwan the only countries are still strict about protocols...

The EASL isn’t the same without the CBA and the Taiwan situation is really messed up. At this rate, they should include the ABL Champion. The PBA will just send hotter chicks the next time EASL execs visits Manila so that they can talk them into the two-makeshift teams as the league tries to do another special format season complete with special draft to deal with the World Cup. Chances are, they’ll say: Fck it, one SMC team, one MPIC team.
It’s cute how Bay Area changes the make-up of their team alternating Nicholson and Powell just to comply with the PBA’s stupidity. How about just making the Governor’s and Commissioner’s Cups a literal Cup tournament simultaneously during the same season and tally the win-loss records for whoever should go to EASL? Some days 6’10 imports, others 6’6, All-Filipino on Sundays. That way, it ensures a full season of games that makes it easier to adjust for a major tournament between mid June to late September as well as FIBA windows and EASL games.

It's just that the 2-game elimination round is a little.. off, don't you think, considering that it's 2 groups of four teams? Anyway, their tournament, their format.

Illawarra Hawks ownership group have made a significant investment in the East Asian Super League which is poised to become the Euroleague of Asia (and Brain Goorjian currently coaches). Part of the deal will include creating an EASL basketball Academy in Australia.Philippine Malditas to FIFA Womens World Cup 2023

This will be not Euroleague of Asia... It will be basketball version of AFC Champions cup of FIFA.... Maybe a possible merge between WASL and EASL in the future... This will spark more fan base in Asian basketball circuit... Unlike national teams, club teams level gap are lesser since every ballclubs will have minimum of 2 imports each to make their team competitive.... Competition is better in Club tourneys unlike national teams that level gap is huge between top teams and mid to lower tier teams....
West
IRI - 2
JOR - 2
LIB - 2
GCC - 1
Central Asia - 1
East
PHL - 1
JPN - 1
KOR - 1
Aus-NZ NBL - 2
CHN/EASL club - 1
TPE - 1
ABL - 1
Those countries/regions not mentioned like IND/South Asia, INA, THA, VIE, Guam/South Pacific, etc. would be categorized in the Div. 2 or the AFC Cup equivalent in basketball and would have their own tournament concurrent with the Div. 1.
This might be a pipe dream for now but I'm optimistic that such format would be possible in the next 10 years.
