I still don’t get why we need a conference with a 6’5 import height limit.

      I honestly don’t.

Because our players are already having a hard time keeping up with 6'5 players..

          Makes it more stupid.

Basketball is for tall people. If you’re 6’1 and complain about not being able to drive to the hoop against a 7’0 rim protector, then that’s not basketball’s problem. Either elevate your game or find another sport.

I from what I have heard in one of the PBA broadcast way back was it was purely for entertainment purposes, When you have a 7'0" Center as in import in the PBA it would be boring as that big import would just post up all those undersized Filipino players and it wouldn't look nice at all, but having a 6'5" below imports and them playing flashy, with those fancy dribbles, explosive dunks and etc. would make for good entertainment.

              That’s still stupid.

aside from the entertainment value of 6'5-6'7 wing players, they are cheaper compared to skilled 6'10 and up imports

But that doesn't hold much water nowadays, as some borderline 7-footers of today are hyper-athletic and skilled in the perimeter (a dime a dozen) just like their 6'5" counterparts. I guess it's the asking price of those said players possessing such freakish attributes that's turning off most PBA clubs, plus, as Robert said, it would negate a certain PBA crowd darling's advantage against other teams in the import department, lowering their chances of perennially winning the cup.

                      • So, as of now, EASL qualification is as follows:

Mags take the first spot, since TNT cannot qualify for the EASL. If TNT make the finals, 3rd placer (which is in this case Magnolia) takes the spot.

The other EASL spot is between SMB and MERALCO.

                          Why can't TNT qualify?

would have been interesting to see Ginebra play in the EASL, though i am suddenly intrigued by Magnolia, let see if Victolero's 3 guard lineup work against East Asia's best!. Plus Calvin is a wildcard, will he cause a intl incident hehe

SMB's more talented, but I think MERALCO's a better fit for the EASL, especially defensively. More active on rotations than SMB are, both on the perimeter and in the paint.
