  • I'm just relieved the PBA agreed to terms with the EASL sending just the All-Filipino Finalists instead of that larong labas BS of forming two seperate teams. Hopefully CBA teams will come back next year and maybe the league champs of Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand will have some participation to make it a sort of "Terrific Twelve" like it was in 2019.

I think this "other conference" might give the PBA money and force them to scrap one conference in the future.

To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

Perhaps they got pressured that they decided to go fro broke? They're manoks (BGSM and SMB) are doing quite well this ongoing AFC conference, anyways. There's no other worthy teams to represent PBA but those 2 league giants, IMO. Plus the statements of the CEO about some of the expenses being shouldered by the league, that might have influenced the collective decision of PBA board as well.

I strongly agree. The West Asia region should also establish a similar champions' league. Make the winner of that region face off with the EASL winner in a one-game Grand Final.

            • Hopefully this becomes big enough to rival Europe's Euroleague. Maybe they can have a crossover tournament between East Asian, West Asian, and Oceania teams.

They can also add Oceania to the mix.

Maybe in 10 years. Gotta let the East Asian teams win first, hehe.

as per Alfrancis Chua last 2020: "Tatlong imports? E di hindi na nakalaro yung mga locals."

somehow true unless you make one import be a "bangko" or a mere spare tire hehe just like adamson and nu were doing this uaap season

short term yes, but long term local players will step up. other leagues have this setup, we dont hear much about. maybe because we aren't from that country but they wouldn't be continuing if its a huge problem. thats same mentality why they removed FSA in local NCAA league.
NBA technically is a league of imports. ok naman. same with the different European leagues. will we just lower our standards instead of raising the bar for local basketball?

One only has to look at Kyt Jimenez to know that people dont necessarily watch because of talent.
