i like the concept of home and away for EASL. to cut costs, they can schedule home games for all the teams in one country vs all the teams from another country in one night and market it as nation vs nation. parang gera, but with basketball.

To make top 4 determination easier, the PBA season should finish BEFORE the 2021 EASL season starts. I think the results from this year's season should be entered. And the season after that should be almost simultaneous with the EASL season.
To add to this, the PBA should be careful in scheduling to avoid a back-to-back PBA-EASL schedule. And the additional games should force teams to load manage their imports and stars. Give more opportunity to bench players.

they really need to compress the season, 54 games in 10 months? or just revert to the old 2 conference format, the EASL could fill the time slot of the 3rd conference

Hope MVP teams would win, either TNT or Meralco, so we can add Cadets player to give them experience.NLEX with Yeng as Coach is so shitty internationally ans hardheaded to add Cadet pool members.. EABL rukes prohibit using Cadet Pool or Gilas team joining, rather regular PBA Champion teams as representative but can add Gilas pool members to reinforce

Some European domestic football leagues start their season on the latter stages of the European competition, and end their season just after the European season has started. Problem is, any team still in European competition may not have an offseason, except for before their knockout rounds, between December and February.

Well, the PBA wants cadets to play instead. While I like the idea of sending the cadets for development, I dunno if that will be allowed, as it's a competition for professional clubs. Plus, I really think the PBA has to send the best pro teams. It can help them generate an international market, and hopefully be a stepping stone for the teams to become East Asian powerhouses.

EASL Chief Executive Officer Matt Beyer wrote a letter to GAB chairman Abraham ‘Baham’ Mitra seeking the approval of allowing the teams from China, South Korea, and Japan to play in the country when it is slated to host several games from the period of October to January of 2022.
The regional league, which staged three successful pre-season tournament since 2017, recently got a big boost in its operation after entering into a ten-year agreement with FIBA.
“The agreement provides EASL FIBA’s full recognition and support to run an annual league matching up the top professional clubs in East Asia and the Philippines,” part of the letter read.
The league opted not to hold a tournament this season following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
But it’s all systems go a year from now, according to Beyer.
“EASL is now preparing for the October 2021 launch of its new league to bring together the best professional basketball teams from around East Asia and determine the region's champion,” said Beyer.
“The first two editions (2021/22 2022/23) of EASL will match up the top eight teams from greater China, Japan, Korea, and the Philippines in a home-and-away group stage, culminating with a Final Four in February to determine the champion, runner up, and third place finishers.”
Under the temporary schedule drawn up by the league, the Philippines will be hosting five games from October to January. The first home game is set from the period Oct. 21-27, while the final home game is scheduled within Jan. 22 to 26.
“EASL seeks GAB’s approval to allow for six foreign top professional teams to play against PBA teams in Manila during the period of October 2021 to January 2022,” Beyer added.
