Italy is on a must-win so they'll come out swinging against Gilas (I expect to Chot to rest his players for the 2nd round lol) pay close attention to the South Sudan-China game later just incase Japan slips up against both Cape Verde and Venezuela (siguro naman Australia beats Japan for them to stay at 3rd in their group) in the 2nd round. Jordan is in a tough 2nd round group, which leaves Iran or Lebanon to trying to catch Japan and Gilas/China. If all else remains status quo... Japan goes to the Olympics as they should and deserve.

Well here is simple math, number of players with major league experience ( US Div 1 starter, NBA and Euro league), like it or not , there is significant correlation with FIBA results and # of players with major league experience.
This is a question for revisiting our structure and pathway for development.
there is this misconception on strength, while we have household name stars, in the bigger picture we lack quality elite major league players compared to others, yes we are less talented.
lots of those Angola bigs if Pinoy locals would be MVPs in the PBA easily

The "program director" has to suck the dicks of the "stakeholders" whether it be the the SBP, the PBA board of governors, and both UAAP and NCAA commissions, for that matter they have to please the agents of those who handle the ones playing in Japan and Korea.

We will send a mostly pba core team to asian games plus brownlee. Since we wont face teams as tough as in wc, we will fare better but not win it all. Sbp will say we are improving. If leadership is given to smc, then nothing will change. No need to revisit, rebuild PBA again. Ive nothing against ctc but he wont get ample time to build his team if he gets appointed as hc for simple reason that pba needs to be played 10 months a year. Unless that changes wala. And for as long as pinoy players do well enough to get a bag in Japan, Korea, or wherever, there will always be a bridge between thr NT and the said players.WE DON'T COUNT YEARS, WE COUNT CENTURIES
P. Noval, A.H. Lacson, Dapitan, Espanya

1 Big 4 small > 5 out offense.

Someone mentioned our penchant for instant gratification and lack of patience...that's basically it.
Even the mighty USA became whipping boys when they sent ill-prepared teams. What makes us think we can do better emulating that.
What coach Yeng recently realized (but a lot of us has already been calling for), changes has to be wholistic. Improve grassroots, rules, coaching, economics, etc.
We have a promising batch of prospects in the 17-25 year old range. If we get our act together, we have about 10 years to maximize their potential. But it starts now, not 9 years from now.
