This is FIBA needs, upset galore… it looks like last year’s FIFA when low ranked teams upset high ranked teams… Germany beat Australia, DR beat Italy (although I know DR is better), Japan beat Finland and Latvia beat France… with that France loss, they are shocking out of the tourney… although they are qualified as host next year but for sure they don’t want collet to coach again next year…

I think Ramos is the only decent guard in gilas at this level. Has some height and size and can make 3s. Pogoy can shoot too but I think give up too much size and he doesn't have the athleticism to make it up. Kiefer too short and bad shooter, same for CJ Perez. Abando seem like he can only make dunks and easy shots (while dunks r exciting but don't seem to be able to do anything else)

As much as I hate Pogoy, he had a good offensive game today. For whatever reason, Chot went for JC to play ballhandler but had Pogoy pick up Angola's little guy and bullied the shit out him... it's just tough luck that when him and Kiefer were together, there were just a lot of missed assignments including the dagger three when Pogoy's man was left all alone in the corner on a risky weakside double team.

This is probably the last time we'll see Scottie, Pogoy, Japeth and Fajardo in major fiba competitions, if SBP wakes up and eventually sacks Chot for good, get a competent HC and program director, I hope this is a pool that they will develop. I just wanna see a successful and progressive gilas roster when I eventually reach my late 20s for the next world cup:

Chot's system is reliant on elite creators/facilitators yet he only has JC. Thompson and Ravena aren't elite creators. This team could've benefitted from Abarrientos and JGDL as additional creators for the team. Overall, the team is poorly constructed.

There are no elite shooters such as Chan, Fonacier, and David. It also severely lacks the slasher/creator types such as Tenorio and Castro.

He did have a good offensive game. But his gambling defense lost us our chance. Even before that I saw him sagging off his man 2x in the 4th, I think the same guy. He gave up 9 pts in the 4th by sagging off his man.

actually we got the short end of the stick of the allocation of countries with star power, yes we had USA but after that we didn't get any of the other countries with nba stars, France will not come, and Slovenia might not either as they have to beat Germany and/or Australia to advance in Manila

I remember during the early years of the Gilas-1 program of coach Rajko Toroman, some Pinoy fans whined a lot about how our young players usually were "minamama" ng mga mas matured na kalaban. Eh natural, our 23-year old players back then would usually could not outsmart or out "gulang" those 29-year old or 32 year-old players of opposing teams. Its as if our 23-year old players will just stagnate & will never improve. Eh kaya nga ini expose natin sa FIBA games & other international competitions yang mga batang players so as that as they age, they become more matured & smarter in the way they play.

It's ridiculous how not a single pba player ended up under Tab, almost like someone was purposely sabotaging the guy. That's why people were so happy to see him succeed with Dwight, Baltazar and Tamayo and still forging work in progress players like Thirdy, Ildefonso and Suerte
