we can still go euroball with some iso plays.
I do want that but its not working. So maybe a DDO is more effective and efficient for us than euro plays

Allow freedom to shot creators, emphasize early offense, and then flow into halfcourt movement situations. It's about repositioning and passing. Get to wide-open spots, and the ball will find you. Iso as a safety valve, or if the scorer is hot.

The problem for me with the Reyes DDO system is that it relies more on a ball-dominant scorer holding the ball in iso and PnR situations. Maybe include pistol actions wherein we can dribble drive off the catch. It works, but it's too reliant on shot creators.

"Europlay" is not literally plays designed only for Europeans, it's modern basketball paradigms that fans just observe many European teams utilizing in fiba, Asian teams just struggle to adapt to it, even pinoys. It's like seeing Japanese players struggle with an M16 rifle and going like "see, this is why pinoys should stick to bows and arrows, more suited for us", actually retarded.

the italian free flowing offense is doable in my opinion.
            Attack
            defend
            Unite

Because of their physical advantages. Thats why Korea is not having success with that in world stage.

Euro play are design to combat hyper athletic US teams. Where they really more on ball and people movements.to attack gaps or create mismatch. Unlike US that more on using athleticsim to break down opponents and match up hunting.

actually, the italian free flowing offense is basically a DDO - the ballhandler has two initial options - attack the basket or shoot a three. if none between the two are available, pass. the two differences of this from the DDO of Gilas is that: 1. Italians pass more often; and 2. cutters are involved.

We do that in tune ups, piston, chicago and zoom actions but no advantages were created. Thats why we flow to our secondary offense of PnR, horns, iso or empty ballscreen. Look at Senegal game, after all that action it didn't make create any mismatch or angle of attack. Thats why we end up doing our secondary plays.

                      • Korea recently had a 1-1 game with Japan in 2 tuneups, they're getting left behind I assume also because they struggle to catch up to modern basketball, they've never had a foreign coach but idk what goes on behind their scene. If even China is willing to hire their current Serbian coach and Kyle Anderson, perhaps it's time to consider that perhaps the standards of local coaches and players all over Asia are decaying because of insularity instead of fetishizing it as pinoy-brand basketball, if you want pinoy-brand basketball, just invent completely new rules to the game like Dagestani wrestling-basketball instead of trying to matchup to other countries under FIBA rules and doing it half-ass.

                        • Greece gave us a big scare. Good thing they decided to play much better in the 4th...

RHJ such a good naturalized player. Jordan might just beat Mexico, Egypt and New Zealand on a good day.

                          • I have an idea for pinoy-brand of basketball actually different from Dagestani basketball, it's called: paramihan ng dribble. There's no hoops, it's just a 5v5 game where at the end they tally how many dribbles each players made, add it as a team, whichever team has the most dribbles win, there won't be rebounding, shooting, 3 pointers etc, just pure dribble. I hope SBP can consider this taking the fact that some of their people and sycophants are scared of modernization

                            • It's almost like greenarcher created this thread to spread his negativity about Gilas being the best in Asia for an Olympic spot. Hehe. Should have named this "greenarcher cheering other Asian countries" lol. You'll probably root for China hard later man. Best of luck

I agree, but there are alot more screens and movement they do and they are tall and athletic to still shoot over or beat their defender. Which we don't have alot of those or Korea.

If we do Italy style, we will run of shot clock as we will not get so much advantage against elite defenders. Just like what happen to Ateneo in WUBS
