I honestly would work with Olympics to either expand the teams to make it like the FIFA WC or make Olympics under 23 again.
Olympics is kind of watered down when it’s like a two week tournament and only 12 teams.

fiba world cup won’t be the same as fifa world cup..

This is one of the reasons why ICC (cricket) don’t make an effort to put the sport cricket in the Olympic event since they know if cricket is in Olympics, many athletes will ignore ICC World Cup and will focus to play in Olympics… there are rumors that cricket will be in 2028 Olympics but I don’t think ICC will support this one… they will lose revenue especially that cricket will be at Olympics… and w/ less countries only plays cricket, that is a bad idea for ICC to push cricket in Olympics…

This year's world cup really feels secondary.. sort of a B-tournament.. not much hype and all.. heck, I was expecting a grand showcase of new kits for major brands (nike, adidas, UA, etc..) for respective national teams but no.. there aren't any..
I guess everyone is looking forward to the 2024 Paris Olympics (back with fans and spectators unlike Tokyo 2020.. hope we really qualify..

So it’s basically Luka (hopefully), Murray(hopefully), SGA, Edwards, Ingram, Jaren Jackson, Brunson, Bridges, KAT, Markenhan, Jonas, Clarkson, Rui(I think),Gobert, DS, and Fran’s Wagner as best players this WC.
it would be much better if one of Giannis and Jokic played, and KP was solid but frustrating not seeing stars in this WC and pretty other WCs the past couple of years.
considering the culture here more stars would’ve loved it here.

Only way FIBA World Cup will be bigger than Olympics is that they should put Olympic basketball as U23 event… I think it’s time already since players will not commit every year… and w/ load management era these days.. even those players can’t even complete a season in their professional leagues (whether it’s nba or any pro leagues abroad)… and I don’t like 12 team Olympic basketball event since but limits the participation of other countries that deserve to play there… w/ more than 30-40 teams can be competitive every single day… NBA already pushed the idea before of having Olympic basketball being U23 event since NBA can’t get any revenue from there (Mark Cuban is the one who proposed this), because all of the revenue always going to IOC…

Well, for sure many are disappointed but I think they are still watching because we still love basketball at all… and this is still better than NBA regular season games… every FIBA games are always crucial like a playoff atmosphere, since every games counts… especially for groups E and H… I think even w/o major stars, this edition might break the 2019 all time viewership record that they get… last 2019, they have 1.5 billion viewers who watch in any videos (YouTube, TV, social media, etc…)…
but being the premier event of FIBA, this year lacks the marketing and hype really..

actually this year, if you look deep into it, despite a lot of stars not participating, this will be a very competitive tournament.. anyone (of course from the upper echelon of elite teams) can win the trophy.. and these are still high caliber world-class teams.. pretty sure this will be a joy to watch..
