back on topic i watched the game of jordan and mexico last night, i think we can beat them , they almost play like us but we have a better defense, i want to see the matchup between kai/junemar and Ibarra
Let me guess, the triple guard set-up (Stoll, Cruz, Giron)? The skilled but undersized power forward (Jaimes)? An inside operator bigman (Josh Ibarra)?

Well, that's, indeed, very Gilas. Hehe

Hope that they can get atleast 2 more tune up games… especially that they have to built chemistry w/ JC thru games… how about Kai sotto? Will he play?

        • Of course can always try to invite teams for tune ups

But reality is Gilas isn't really a priority or attractive team by othebs.to tune up agsisnt , they prioritize other teams , particularly European. ( which makes total.sense ).

Casing point NZ for last tune up before arriving in.Manila is Italy, can't blame them.for choosing Italy , rather than the teams in the same region. Who they regularly play against.

As Chot admits while they tried , European WC teams dont want to play them..

Bro, what is it with you and Jordan? You’ve been riding their dicks since the last qualifiers windows.

Have you forgotten they have both USA and Greece in their group?

Even without Giannis, Greece is still very tough because they outsize Jordan in every position and play the same style.

This is where I see our future NT is headed. With newer generations becoming taller, we’ll see a plethora of 6’3-6’5 kids who pattern their game after Steph or Harden because they grew up watching those players.

Being the Puerto Rico or Dominican Republic of FIBA Asia isn’t so far-fetched after all.

I agree and this is the why exhibition matches against Iran (even if team B) does not make sense at all. Having a tune-up against China does not make sense as well.

Chot tried to invite European teams that qualified in the World Cup. If these World Cup-bound European teams did not make the Philippines their priority, Chot should have invited Austria, Norway, Ireland or any team that played in the EuroBasket pre-qualifiers to play against them. Some European tune-ups of Jordan are those that did not qualify for the World Cup (Portugal, Czech Republic).

                • tune up game is all about preparing the right players ( your core) and against the right teams ( European / Americas)

if your core is ( Kai, JC , AJ etc) there is little value to be preparing players who won't be in WC or play limited minor roles ( Brownlee, Junmar ,CJ (examples only) and vs not similar WC opponents ( Asian teams)

It used to be the Saudis and the Indonesians in the old Robert account Lol

                    • Who will want to have a tuneup with a host team whose poster boy has so much drama and suspense just weeks before the WC. We are showing the world how f*cked up our program is.

In reality, international basketball community distrust chot… they still not trust him since what happened last 2018 brawl between gilas and australia… while teams such as Iran, Jordan and Lebanon who can manage to play against same high caliber teams because they still trust them… and with load management era these days… high caliber teams can’t afford to lose a player playing against low level physical teams… maybe if coach tab or ctc is the coach then maybe they can find atleast one or two high caliber teams to play against gilas in a tune up game

Well, gilas is not at that fault why they only manage to face Iran B… it was supposed to play team A.. but Iran has other options to play.. they manage to have a good tune up games vs Georgia and Russia… w/c is better, while Lebanon has manage to choose Abu Dhabi event… chot is not good manage talking to other teams having tune up w/ gilas despite he’s a PR guy… and yes, you are right, Chot should have pick lower rank but tough European teams such as Switzerland, Norway, Kosovo, etc…. I’m sure those teams can give sweat (or can beat) to gilas… he should think that there are 48-50 European teams competing and all of them can manage to beat most of high level Asian teams…

Of course they they won’t beat US and Greece… but look at next possible jordan matches, these are New Zealand and possible classification matches Mexico and Egypt… that teams can be beaten by Jordan… have you remember that all Asian teams are only targeting best Asian finisher just to play for Olympics… NZL can be beaten by Jordan because they are familiar with them plus with the way they beat Mexico (who I think same level as NZL) then there is a possibility that jordan can upset NZL… gilas has to be careful… the possible track to have a good standing is 3-2 and have a shot in Olympics… I have a posted this before, the only teams have a chance is China and Philippines but I want to correct it, since jordan have good route in classification matches then they have a shot to be in 3-2 standing… Japan doesn’t have a chance since they might be 0-3 in their group stages, thus their chances are only 2-3, same with Lebanon and Iran… that’s why don’t ignore the fact that Jordan has a chance… but I’m sure that NZL will beat Jordan… that’s why bro all of us here should cheer against all Asian teams competing.. An Asian lose means a win for gilas…

the next generation has the size and playing position that are on par with the current standard, and i noticed that kids nowadays are way taller than my generation
