Maybe he wants him to be picked by Converge?
Like how Bolick never even gets invited when he's PBA contract is up for negotiations but somehow starts at PG whenever he's still under contract? And now that he's gonna be playing in the Bleague doesn't even get invited despite declaring publicly that's he wants to play for GILAS and we need help at PG?

    • It seems like Chot is not a player's coach as he makes the public believes otherwise.

Dwight doesn't care....he even defended Chot.
He is the only one left from the original Tab crew

This is really a huge headache in Phi basketball. Too much politics involved that is so detrimental to Phi basketball. Look at our pool right now, with Iskati Thompson injured, we are left with a water down version of Kiefer Ravena as our only legit point guard that coach Chot is compelled to ask CJ Perez & Chris Newsome to play some point. But those guys are natural wingmen. Likewise, we also don't have a natural "four" after Carl Tamayo begged off from the pool. Chot should have called Baltazar for duty after Tamayo's exit. Masyado tayong madaming sentro with Kai, Junmar, Japeth, AJ Edu & Erram, but we are left with only Jamie Malonzo as our four (to think that Malonzo is more of a tweener or a combo forward). Japeth & Edu maybe be able to play the 4 at times, but only on limited mins. becoz if matched up with natural fours which have mobility, agility, outside shooting & ball handling, they would struggle to keep in step with their men.

The pool is not balanced. We are thin at the point guard & the four spots yet we are too crowded at the shooting guard & center positions.

          • I rather have long hair than Chot..

Long hair commands respect like a big boss
Long hair does everything to win at all cost...smc, tanduay(sonny alvarado)
            Long hair...players respect him
Long hair....has basketball and political will...(look at how he made pba his puppet)
Long hair...now has exposure with both uaap and ncaa thru ust and letran
Long hair....confronts players...unlike Chot who is a coward and makes excuse
Long hair.....could trust an intl coach..Tim Cone is foreigner by blood right
Long hair is under SMC...a Filipino company
Long hair talks cool, looks cool..he is a cool boss. Chot, Al, Vargas always makes excuses

            • All these years we fans thought SMC was the problem as they don't lend players.

But it is obvious now that Chot is the problem....he has not guts to ask for players as his mind is playing political and favorite games in him.

Long hair always said Gilas didn't ask for his players that is why they don't lend...but they always lend Junemar and Japeth...he could be saying the truth.

Just like now Chot's mind is playing with him again...Balti we like him but he is with the MPBL(my bosses might get angry at me)....i rather be a coward than do what is best for the team and make a simple phone call to Delta and Balti.

Sorry to disagree with U bro, but SMC is also a problem in Phi basketball. SMC people do have its good share of the problems. Remember how SMC deprived its players - Junmar, Japeth, Tenorio, Lassiter, Paul Lee, from joining Gilas which was coached by Tab Baldwin in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship?

Don't believe Long Hair or anyone from SMC if they say, "We have always supported the national team. Its only about SBP requesting us & informing us in advance". We weren't born yesterday.

                • Coach Chot Reyes: "We would have wanted to play against the other teams, we would have wanted to play the top teams in Europe now, but the reality is, it was hard to get the top-quality European teams because they don’t want to play against us."

So is Chot trying to say that he is only looking for the top European teams? He did not bother to look for a legit low to mid-tier European teams, did he? Also, there are so many quality national teams outside Europe. Why focus there when he will only face one European team in the preliminary stage?

Do we have a tuneup with Mexico, or any South American team to simulate DR? How about Italy? Do we have a tuneup against a team with good stretch bigs?

As I said before, Philippines can beat Angola… they still not improve since 2019… they have Bruno Fernando but their core that bring Angola to the top of afrobasket in the past decade are gone… their new gen players are not so good as their previous generations… losing to Jordan that we all know that gilas can beat anytime beat Angola by 16 (70-54)…

Montenegro (w/ nba star nikola vucevic) will play gilas on august 20 (they are same level as Italy) while Mexico plays gilas on august 21 (to simulate DR)…. Although I hope that they can get 3 more tune up opponent to create chemistry between them on the last 3 weeks of preparation before the World Cup…

                        • But on the flip side, having too much tune up games will have effects too.. look what happened to Slovenia, they already lost Vlatinko Cancar due to ACL injury he suffered during the game vs Greece in their tune up games, also remembered Danny Siegle tragedy before 2002 Asian games 2 decades ago… atleast in the World Cup, our players are healthy already to compete… we already worried if Scottie can still make it on time, same as Kai… also most of the players in the pool are having history of suffering injuries in the past such as Edu, junmar, japeth, newsome, and even Ramos and oftana still not yet 100% healthy… too much tune up games will burn out our players… so it has to be balance…

Well, that is all part of the gamble bro. Every time your players step in the court to play, may it be just a tune-up game, a pocket tournament or an actual tournament game, there will always be the risk of injury. But no coach will ever complain that he is getting "too many" tune-up games for his team.
