It is pretty obvious almost in all iterations of Gilas we play poor defense, too many turnovers, too many points given up...how many times have we seen our PBA pros play bad pick and roll defense in international competitions?? When I say clean honest defense, I mean straight up D, using your feet moreso than your hands, knowing how and when to deny and seal off the passing lanes, proper boxing out, etc. So just because other countries resort to dirty tactics, we have to either retaliate violently like some people here want us to do just to prove a point? No wonder other countries like to play us rough and dirty because they know pinoy cagers lose their cool too easily and that can disrupt the team's flow. A well disciplined team with a very competent and knowledgeable coach overcomes any pettiness and mind games that an opposing team throws at them. Sadly a few versions of our Gilas team in the last few years lacked both discipline and competent coaches (Yeng).

So NO I ain't living in no fantasy world. LOL!
When did I deny that Philippine basketball has to improve its system and fundamentals?

I just said it is a fantasy to even imply that international basketball is clean, and that dirty play IS common (along with very bad officiating). Even national teams that have good fundamentals use gulang worse than what you see in the PBA and flops. Gulang, physicality, and dirty plays are not exclusive to Filipino players.
What I was saying earlier, those who complain that Filipino players are "dirty" play dirty as well. A lot of times, they're even dirtier than Filipino ballers.

Dirty play is very common in international basketball more than people are willing to admin.

All teams play dirty againts each other, not just the Philippines.

    • ^^Not only that. He also has problem with expressing himself properly. His previous posts imply as if international basketball is clean when it is not.

We're just more honest with our gulang. We talk about gulang openly. However, how many talk about gulang in international basketball? More often than not, those who complain about gulang are often employers of gulang like that dude who hit RDO in the balls, who RDO retaliated with an elbow and that Kuwaiti got totally pissed and confronted the ref and hot ejected.

The gulang in the international scene are even worse than what you see in the PBA

Jeezus! @Artek when the f@ck did I say international ball was clean?! What I said was that our players have a hard time in adjusting and playing good honest defense, most probably either because our opponents are taller, longer, faster, athletic than us or maybe a combination of all of the above?! Yes sure I've acknowledged already in previous posts that "GULANG" is there even by other FIBA teams, but to say that to have an upper edge we have to resort to doing borderline tactics when the refs aren't looking?! Hoping by all hope to tick off the other player that they get ejected?! Like I said that's the easiest way to get things escalated really quickly! Thats what your friend Astigram04 is advocating here. Whatever happened to beating our opponents with offensive skill and defensive savvy?

@astigram04 inday, don't get me started on who has reading comprehension problems. All because of hurt feelings about RDO..tsk tsk!

                  • Hoping that AJ Edu, recovers fully from the injury. Sometimes, the more damaging aspect is the psychological. He is the perfect complement to Kai. They have good chemistry. The two will form a great frontline. Add Kobe at 3, Clarkson at 2 and Bolick at 1 and you have a competitive startting 5.

                    • hello guys, stay safe..

BTW since the Olympics is pushed to 2021, do you think FIBA 2023 would also be rescheduled?

i think there won't be any problem in terms of scheduling conflicts as the event in 2021 will still be branded as the 2020 olympics, hence, the next olympics will still be held in 2024, a year after the 2023 WC. and even if the olympics after 2021 is held in 2025, i don't think there will be any conflict as there's a 2 year lull in between - 23-25, 27, 29, and so on.

                            • Sayang si chot he is really a good coach very experience internationally but yung kadramahan at PR lang niya poblema if he only focus on coaching and nothing else.

I always support chot everytime he handle our NT but no more chot for me time to move on may darating din tamang coach sa gilas.

                              • It should be Tab. With the current set up,of signing exclusive Gilas players, it can be done.

Panopio, Clarkson, Paras, Edu, and Sotto would be the realistic 1st 5 given Fiba eligibility rules.

Fajardo, Tamayo, Ramos, Bolick, T. Ravena from the bench

Perez and Chiu round them up.
