So now it can be said, accoriding to MVP, the original proposed consortium was Phil, Indonesia and Singapore, but FIBA suggested Japan , so Singapore dropped out. Like i said previously i prefer Singapore over Indonesia .
the Philippines is hosting 16 teams ( half the teams) , whie the other half will be split between Japan and Indonesia . I doubt anyone except the nations participating in Indonesia will visit Indonesia , they will either go to the Philippines or Japan

You have a point there bro. If he plays in the UAAP or in the NCAA, D. Ramos will get the playing time he needs, but by playing college ball in the Phi., he will get that "star complex" & thus he will most likely just focus in his offensive game while overlooking his defense. I mean, D. Ramos will become among the star players of his college team here in the Phi., and there's this tendency in local basketball that star players aren't really compelled to play defense that much becoz they are just too precious for their teams if they get into foul trouble and/or playing defense would zap their energies that they won't have enough gas left to fuel their offensive game.

Playing in the US NCAA on the other hand, Dwight may not get enough playing time specially this year, his sophomore year, but at least he is being exposed to higher level basketball & that will push him to work harder in his game, both offensively & defensively. One thing I notice about US-trained cagers, specially those that played in the NCAA Div. 1 league, is that they have decent defense.

The Erick Menks, Kelly Williams, Rudy Hatfields, Ryan Reyeses, Gabe Norwoods, are excellent defenders.

Of course not all US-trained PBA players have good defensive skills. Danny Seigle & Japeth Aguilar aren't really known for their defense.

I've watched some US NCAA Div. 1 games lately on TV & one thing that stands out with its level of game is the effort that the players put on defense. I think American college basketball puts a lot of premium on defense.

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Wasted opportunity for Singapore. But then again our basketball is no where near world level.

Playing 10.3 minutes a game is significant. Kobe, with allthe DNPs probably didnt even average a minute. If Kobe can produce at the SEA games level, theres a chance Dwight can too. I guess playing 10.3minutes at that level isno joke. Hope he still improves though and earns more minutes.

My preference for Singapore over Indonesia isn't because of the local population, but because it's a tourist global hub. flight access to singapore from other continents is one of the best.
it would easily trump Indonesia in international visitors . If sinapore was selected i don't think they would need a host team, parang an added venue for the Philippines- So Philippines could have 4 venues-
                        MoA
                        Araneta
                        Philippine Arena
                        Singapore

                        Cebu?

Philippine Arena I was told was not technically a sports venue, hence people in the upper boxes can't really enjoy what's happening on the floor, the screen was too small and the arena loses that close experience with live event since its too big.Hence, new arenas in the US is restricted to no more than 25,000 so that fans can really enjoy the experience at all angles.Does the Philippine Arena sell beer, alcohol or even Dodger size hotdogs and all those fatty, messy stadium foods or is that not allowed since it might offend the owner's religious beiefs? Not having any of that kinda kills half of the experience specially if you're a foreigner used to this kind of things, specially a guy walking up and down the aisle selling from peanuts, beer, hamburgers, etc.

I actually would not use the Philippine Arena for 1st round games, maybe the final 4 and finals , but not 1st round. that would be ugly.. to have such a big arena with empty seats ( assuming Gilas or Team USA doesn't play there )

BTW what is the current arnea in Cebu and are they still buidling an SM areena there?

                              hmm 6 groups ... of 6 teams each = 32 (oops 36 pala)

Put = 3 groups in Philippines - MoA, Araneta and Cebu
                              1 group in Indonesia -
                              2 groups in Japan
