it's a nickname for the teams from 2010-present. anyway you're free to believe what you want

I'm fairly satisfied with what the ladies have accomplished already, if they can beat Norway and reach the next stage, that's a huge huge bonus for me.
I’m not familiar with women’s football, but NZ aren’t like the US or other European countries in women’s football. They got their first win like last game but Philippines we’re still underdogs and beating them at their home soil is for sure a historic win and upset.

Not going to lie wish it was the men in this past WC, but it’s still football and seeing the girls pull a goal at the highest level of women’s football is still beautiful and is trophy for our country at the highest levels.

I hope they do more and grow the sport with basketball here with men’s and women’s.

Gilas should take note on how to play and ask the Australian coach on motivating players to win. With Clarkson committing the talent is there to pull something similar to the girls team.

But bad news is Volleyball is more popular in the Philippines right now than football... I think Football here is still no.5 in popularity, Behind the ranks of Basketball, Volleyball, Billiards and Boxing... Still long way to go...

NZL is not the powerhouse in Womens soccer, They are only below mid level team... Europeans, East Asians and USA are powerhouse there....

            • Maybe good news from Gilas fans... Dominican Republic's Chris Duarte will now not joining DR due to focus on his new team Sacramento but the Bad news is Karl Anthony Towns is almost 99% committed for DR for upcoming FIBA WC...

Don't be fool about Norway... They are still tough team to beat... Filipinas should not let their guards out... They still have to focus and salvage another victory...

                • Another bad news for Gilas... Japanese superstar Rui Hachimura reserve his previous decision and will be part of Japanese team for next month's FIBA WC.. Japan again will try to upset teams in very tough Group E against Australia, Germany and Finland...

I think being number 2-3 is possible and can create good teams regardless if that happens. I guess what it is but I don’t get how volleyball can even be that popular compared to football. I’m not going to belittle volleyball, I ge tit it’s fast paced, but even for me when I played that in middle school it was a bore bro. Football has more athlecism and skill than volleyball. I can get basketball because it’s fast paced and has the skill and tactial aspects of football.

If football just has a competent league and decent mass following with legit clubs that at least has exposure on mainstream networks, it will be a good result for football progress here.

Here in the Philippines, Volleyball athletes, especially the womens are very popular among classes... In fact, the recent tour of Volleyball Nations League was filled to the rafters even no Philippine team competing, and our PRO league here the PVL are likely the most popular professional league right now (Sorry PBA)... Every game of PVL especially Allyssa Valdez matches are always sold out... If football in the PHL wants to be popular more, they have to create a PRO league here... unfortunately, No one likely to invest a team here for football... And Filipinos mostly still thought that the sport is "BORING" especially to the casuals... Still have long way to go...

Yeah I notice it on some random YouTube videos. TBF it can be fun if it’s in the Olympics. I’m down with supporting the sport too but I mean I’m more of a basketball guy but I also just feel a great connection with football as well that I feel would be good for the country that I hope spreads more.

What aren't you getting? I did not imply New Zealand as powerhouse. Qualifying in the world cup is already a huge accomplishment, winning and beating NZL on their own turf is what makes it more impressive. Football is one of the most competitive and famous sport in the world. FIFA rankings are pretty much useless and irrelevant. It's not best way to gauge a team in this sport.

Christ, where did I say NZL is equal to US or European clubs? All I'm trying to say is, what they've achieved is all miraculous.

Former UP and Ateneo varsity players are actually holding trainings for young kids several days a week. Usually in the UP sunken garden. It makes soccer accessible for middle class kids who might not have soccer fields in their school. Unfortunately we lack public places to allow kids to play free. I only saw one in QC, where a vacant lot half a soccer field size is being used by kids.

Next should be more HS tourneys. Personally, this is where I got exposed to the sport. I would say it really helped develop my athleticism and stamina. When I started playing pick up basketball in college, the court seemed small for me.

Sorry, beating NZL is not impressive in womens football since before the tournament starts NZL was not winning any game prior to this current event... They were 0 W - 3 D - 12 L before they finally won vs Norway in 1st match... They are only qualified because no one in Oceania playing competitively in womens soccer, Although i'm still proud what Filipinas did... But don't make too proud beating NZL in womens soceer... Let Filipinas do their job first and don't make them overhype...
