they're already more accomplished than the azkals and if they win another one and/or go through the next round they'd accomplish far more than gilas as well

        • Clarkson in, Brownlee to the Asiad

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) thanked the long-time Barangay Ginebra import for spending a lot of time practicing and training with Gilas for the past five weeks as it prepares for it's World Cup campaign next month.

But with Jordan Clarkson finally coming to terms with SBP to play for Gilas in the global showcase, Brownlee will have to take the backseat as basketball's biggest event comes back to Manila after 45 years.

During the pep rally held for both the men and women's national teams on Tuesday, coach Chot Reyes announced the 35-year-Brownlee will be the one to play for Gilas in the Asiad.

the current one yes, but historically its still the Philippines men's national basketball team is still the most accomplished asian team due to the podium finish in 1954, so Filipinas will face the fist woman Ballon D' Or winner, that is the beauty of football an underdog team has a more fighting chance to win than an underdog in basketball, just last fifa world cup asian teams defeated some of the football powerhouses in the world, KSA - Argentina, Japan - Spain and Germany and South Korea - Portugal

Most enjoyable and scariest game I've seen. Man, those three points felt good.

the feeling is so surreal supporting my own country in a football world cup, i know it's a long shot for our men's team that is why i only bandwagon with Portugal being a CR7 fan

well gilas is basically the national men's team , so i don't look at them separately as gilas is just a moniker , though i hope that what is the women's team is achieving will make the filipino casuals to give football a second look, as i think we can be more successful in this sport than basketball, as im sure that once FIBA world cup starts people will forget about the women's football team

gilas is just a nickname for the national team like a rebranding but its still the national team that represents the Philippines in international basketball tournament, if you search gilas in google the first thing you will see is the wiki page of Philippines Men's National basketball you will not see a different page for Gilas Pilipinas, like what i said its a nickname and rebranding but it carry over the entire history of the men's national basketball team

I don't think people have any idea how impressive that win against NZ. It's comparable to our Men's Basketball team playing in Olympics and beating a star studded USA team.

I'm fairly satisfied with what the ladies have accomplished already, if they can beat Norway and reach the next stage, that's a huge huge bonus for me.
