I think it's time now for FIBA to break up / separated with IOC / Olympics and put Olympic basketball via U23 event (or U25 event)... FIBA WC should be the biggest event in basketball after NBA... It's weird that a World cup event in a sporting event like basketball, Who is now 2nd most popular sport on earth being under appreciated and not prioritize by some fans... The only way basketball being a more globally popular is thru the International events / World cups... Maybe some here will be have thoughts here but FIBA has this reason to do this in near future... FIBA is not getting any revenue or any money by IOC since Olympics is under IOC... FIFA had same problems here before by they take the risk and it works... FIBA has to do this, It will be also favors the athletes, So that they will not force to play every summer... FIBA has already achieve big milestone last 2019 when they get biggest attendance and biggest viewership in their history w/ 1.5 billion views... And w/ Social media era these days, It will grow bigger as the years goes by... Olympics by the way is an amateur event... Then FIBA should be the bigger one than IOC in terms of basketball...

1. Kai C
2. Japeth C
3. Edu C
4. Malonzo PF
5. Ramos SF/PF
6. JC SF/SG
7. CJ SG
8. Abando SG
9. Newsome SG/PG
10. Scottie PG
11. Kiefer PG
Among those in the pool but not in Estonia I would get Carl and Heading for Abando.
With the lack of PFs in the pool I think they would try make Edu play PF. The Kai Japeth pairing was clunky. I dont think Edu as PF will work also even Poy. They might get Tratter from the PBA.

If the plan is to add additional soul for our ill-fated FIBA WC bound team after their European sojourn, I’m still hoping that the likes of ff. should be included in the training pool because were also preparing for the coming 2023 AG as well.(assuming those SBP heads wake up in right side of the bed in the coming days).
6’8 Justine Baltazar
6’2 Maverick Ahamissi (FIBA eligible)
6’5 Abu Tratter (I also agree on his inclusion; FIBA eligible)
6’7 Brandon Ganuelas Rosser (AG eligible)
6’2 Sedrick Barefield ( AG eligible)
Should not be included for now:
Raymond Almazan (he is very dramatic inside the court nowadays and his mental focus on the game are questionable maybe too much Rock n’ Roll thing as per his moniker I think).
Isaac Go (IMHO the dude are not yet WC, for now he needs to focus on the on-going PBA summer tour)
Roosevelt Adams( the dude is inconsistent on both ends of the floor; for now let him sharpen his stuff at his new team at Div. 2 of the B. League hopefully he could be of Gilas quality come next year)
Kevin Alas, Marcio Lassiter, Troy Rosario and Matthew Wright(whatever those bias mainstream media are saying those dudes had already done their share part on the national team same issue with the Rav bros. but still they are included in the current training pool despite the fact that they have nothing significant to be offered to the table)

Hachimura begs off
The Japanese Basketball Association announced the unavailability of Hachimura in a press release.
The release said Hachimura is still working on his NBA contract. The Los Angeles Lakers forward becomes a restricted free agent this offseason.
"After comprehensive consideration, we have accepted his wishes and have decided not to invite him to the Japan national team this summer," said the JBA in a statement.

I dunno why people are questioning his decision. It could cost him millions of dollars. If ever a pinoy player makes it in the NBA and is negotiating with that kind of money and is being sought after by the big market teams everyone here would be celebrating.

Understandable IMO. Watanabe too I believe is a free agent and is looking to get paid as he's on his late 20s already.
