      • USA team:

        C Walker Kessler - 7'0 (21)
        PF Bobby Portis - 6'11 (28)
        C/F Jaren Jackson, Jr. - 6'10 (23)
        PF Paolo Banchero - 6'10 (20)
        F Cam Johnson - 6'8 (27)
        F Brandon Ingram - 6'8 (25)
        G/F Mikal Bridges - 6'6 (26)
        G Tyrese Haliburton - 6'5 (23)
        G Austin Reaves - 6'5 (25)
        G Anthony Edwards - 6'4 (21)
        G Jalen Brunson - 6'2 (26)

        Average Height: 6'7 1/2
        Average Age: 24

My opinion: A relatively young USA team with a bunch of up and coming and role players. The team has a decent size. The 12th and final slot should be given to a wingman.

However, I see the last spot to be a toss up between Tyler Herro, Desmond Bane, Alex Caruso and Kevin Heurter.

I see this team will struggle to the teams like Serbia, France and Australia. The team may also struggle against Canada, Greece and Spain.

I do think more of their stars will commit as we get closer to the tournament. Most of these early commits will surely be part of the Select team which as Grant Hill said would take part in their training camp but will be comprised of younger guys (like a cadet team). I think Kerr and Hill are on the process of recruiting elite stars but it’s not looking good as most of the established stars think less of the World Cup as compared to the Olympics. I’ve heard they also removed a certain directive by former managing director Colangelo which requires multiyear commitment of players to certain international tournaments for them to be able to play in the olympics. Which means that players can just skip other tournaments and just play come the Olympic games. They’re just really having a difficult time securing commitments. Looks like their last 7th place World Cup finish wouldn’t do the job of securing elite talent for them. Maybe consecutive out of podium finish will do the job.

i assume that most of the players in the pool wont be part of the paris olympics roster, provided that they qualify of course

                • Vs NZ I feel Banchero is a game changer, as he's really strong offensively inside , a NZ weakness... I hope they don't figure this out and are super disorganized in 1st game LOL

                        • It’s expected anyway. I’d posted months ago that Wemby won’t play in WC… his aim international basketball-wise is the Olympics…

                          • Loads of declined invitations not only from US players but from international players as well, so I expect some objectives of Philippines’ hosting this event will not be achieve such as attendance and ROI. It will be a deficit…

Probably why FIBA chose Qatar for 2027.

Hosting the damn thing costs money and COVID fucked up majority of the world’s economy.

I really hope the SBP’s budget isn’t affected post-WC 2023. It will spell trouble.

I don't think Wemby thinks that... He's excited before to play for France this summer... It's the Spurs management hold him so... I understand because what happened to Chet last year... But i don't think Wemby decides to skip this year on his own decision.. This is also happened to most of the incoming rookies in the NBA except Yao Ming in 2002 because NBA is afraid of Chinese backlash before....
