How about Jarret Allen of Cavs? Hoping for atleast one establish star to lead USA... I'm talking about Dame Lilliard, He needs this to atleast increase his achievement resume since his inclusion in 75 greatest players in the NBA has some doubts among all basketball fanatics... He can go ala Carmelo Anthony route, no NBA rings but multiple international medals... The team badly needs veteran guy (experienced international/FIBA campaigner) to guide young squad...

          • Let's do the pool again but by height and natural playing position

            Pogoy 182cm - SG
            Kiefer 185cm - PG
            Scottie 186cm - PG
            Heading 188cm - SG
            Newsome 188cm - SG
            CJ 188cm - SG
            Thirdy 189cm - SG
            Abando 188cm - SG
            Parks 193cm - SF
            Ramos 193cm - SF
            Oftana 195cm - SF
            JC 198cm - SG
            Brownlee 200cm -SF
            Tamayo 201cm - PF
            Malonzo 201cm - SF
            Erram 201cm - C
            Edu 208cm - PF
            Japeth 208cm - C
            Junmar 208cm - C
            Ange 211cm - C
            Kai 216cm - C

This is Chot's team so we can all forget about defending the wing and just assume he goes for the obvious drive and kick out/drop pass similar to how the SEA Games squad did it. There's no point now in whining who should have been included, there's still time for this team to have a plan against different types of teams.

              • What's the deal with three naturalized players in the player pool?

Is that a sign of Clarkson not being 100% committed? Or are you still holding trying to petition FIBA to consider him local (I thought that was settled)?

lol, you're overthinking it. i'm pretty sure the SBP has that much money to afford to send them all to Europe for training camp.

I think there is really something wrong with Baltazar's relationship with SBP or should I say Baltazar's handlers' relationship with the SBP.

With regards to Bolick, I think he's not that willing to play for the national team anymore.

Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

The absence of Mike Philips is headscratching. Believe it or not, I think that he is more fit for Chot's set up than both Erram and Junemar will ever be. The kid is 6'8 energetic and athletic bigman. He can rebound and defend as well. He also has a strong case for the FIBA exemption.

SBP already surrender that he will be a local.. He (JC) has NO backup requirements why he should be a local.. The reason is just to help the team every practice sessions, Or if JC backs out in last minute before final 12 submition.. JC is the main priority for SBP...

                        • It's a must for Philippines to pick JC due to match ups, especially against Dominican Rep... They (DR) abused Gilas guards in their OQT match up 2 years ago and they added Quinones and Montero to strengthen their guard and wing positions... JC can match up with them or dominate those DR guards... small guards that are unathletic, too small and no upper body strength will not cut it against them... For me, only 4 is a shoo-in for Gilas... Namely Kai Sotto, AJ Edu, Dwight Ramos and JC... I don't know others since not familiar with their game and checking their height, some of them are too small for their positions needed in FIBA setting...

And here is the thing , if Kouame and Japeth are still recovering from injury, who does AJ go up against in practice for next 2 weeks?
                            Erram ?, c'mon now.

Because NBA has agreement to those players who will participate in the world cup (or in any international games) that they have only 28 days to join to their countries that they will play for... That's why no NBA players who are in their national team squads yet... They only do is individual work outs only (Just what Luka, Bogdanovic and Patty Mills is doing)... JC can officially join Gilas on July 28 (28 days before the WC)... Although JC can join right now but he will be only at sidelines and he will do individual work outs to just stay fit or join some practice but not official tune up games....
