But defensively I don't think you can put any other eligible big who is healthier than him right now and is capable of playing a lot of minutes. Edu and Kouame are taller and better rim protectors but those guys are on minute restrictions.

    • Kind of crazy how things work in the Philippines, it's really not based on what you can do to get a role, but who you know , or in this sense who you are associated with, it better not be with people the SBP don't like ( whoever they are Tab, Pineda Cooks , whoever)..

PH loses though if there are no NBA superstars. organizers would obviously want the biggest of names to play for their countries as part of marketing. but the USA, as a team, would still be fine. i dont even know(which team) who can keep up with the scoring that Ant, Brunson, and Mikal will make. Maybe AU and Canada. Spain and France would need to slow the game down to favor them. Slovenia and Greece will go to Luka and Giannis. but i dont know if their supporting cast can keep up.

obviously, I want PH to do well. but I hope all the healthy stars play for their countries. make it worth it for those who watch live.
Brandon Ingram and Jaren Jackson Jr also commit to team USA. hmm not bad btw, sucks for SBP and the sponsors though who are expecting A and S level nba names

No one expecting USA will bring their A and S tiers, since Americans didn't prioritize FIBA competitions too much... Still good enough and better version than 2019... In 2019, No one in that line up are all star calibers (Tatum, Brown and Mitchell are not all stars that time)... In 2023, JJJ, Haliburton and Edwards are already all star members while Brunson is also near all star caliber guy...

This line up still needs another center, another PG (or combo guard) and bunch of veteran or role players (probably veteran players to lead this young core).... Draymond Green? Dame Lilliard? Let's see!!!!

                • Great USAB development, at least in the perspective of all non-US international basketball fans. Having less A and S-tier NBA players for Team USA somehow makes this upcoming FIBA WC less predictable.

Chet Holmgrem ( if given the go signal by OKC) imagine the riot here at ibn when kai and chet would match up (would not happen of course due to the different brackets and groupings)

The draw favors the USA to at least make the semis unless they lose to Greece in the group stage then Greece don't lose their two 2nd round games to possibly Lithuania and Montenegro, in which case, the USA would be looking at a quarter final match against Serbia. I'd like to guess the USA are building a team who can limit the other 4 players around Giannis and hope that he tires defensively while they try to run at every opportunity. Looks like they want mobile and long players... even Bridges and Haliburton have really long arms for their height. Expect the rest of the pool to fill up after the Finals.

Meanwhile... what's Chot waiting for? Weren't they supposed to start June 1 before heading to Europe?

Aside from their superior athleticism-driven offense and press D, i believe Team USA will need to bank on a hastily-established team chemistry (fill the remaining slots by getting players from teams running system of plays similar to GSW's?) to get past the top 10 NTs that could potentially be in their path to the gold. Without a Durant-level (and int'l ball decorated) scorer and leader, i just don't see this current Team USA winning it all, considering that the competition has improved by leaps and bounds since they last won in 2014.

As for our Chot-Gilas combo, i haven't read any news since completing the pool.

                          • It’s safe to say Balti and Bolick are not in SBP/PBA’s good graces. Not even part of the 21 man pool despite having all the tools to compete for a roster slot.
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

Bolick, Balti, and RJ are not in the pool. Man. If guys like Pogoy, Erram, and June Mar are in the pool, the former three should have been included.
