    Kai is just starting his career.

    Japan hasn’t had a Rim protector since Aono back in 2007.

    Korea’s Ha Seung-Jin was their best pure center but he retired long back.

    Lebanon hasn’t had a real non-NP center like ever.

    These type of players are simply one of a kind a difficult to come by.

    I think having a tall rim protector would be a big advantage in Asia-Oceania basketball. I think Zhou Qi's shotblocking & intimidating presence makes a big difference for the Chinese national team. I think Zhou Qi's crucial block of Stanley Pringle's drive in the last 2 minutes of the Gilas-China game in the 2018 Asia Gamed was the turning point of that game which allowed China to barely escape from a possible loss to Gilas.

    As I've said before, Kai & AJ Edu's presence as strong Gilas prospects would be unpredented in Phi basketball. Never was a time in Phi basketball that it have a 7-foot center who is talented enough & a 6-foot-10 very athletic centers.

    As well all know, Junmar was never known as a rim protector. Japeth Aguilar while athletic, easily bit off fakes.

        I bet AJ Edu would be a significantly better rim protector than either Junmar or Japeth, especially if AJ reaches his prime.

        Likewise, I expect AJ to be the better pick n' roll defender than either Junmar & Japeth.

            I don’t usually comment on Coach Chot’s statements. Netizens would vilify him, whatever he says anyways. But lately, I’m just scratching my head and wondering if he says things to stir drama, elicit reaction or what.

            Make no mistake, he might not be the best coach nor he is likeable, but guy is smart. I wonder if he chooses to be blunt and carefree with his words in exchange for the controversies and issues, you know, to keep the Gilas hype machine going. Sure thing is, he loves the limelight.
            Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

              Choke and joke reyes already did extensive damage to our seniors and youth teams, nothing they say or do can ever fix what they've done.

                  Honestly, I like both players. Both are two-way players - may opensa at may depensa. I think Newsome did better than Perez in the recent SEA Games (and that was the most competitive SEA Games basketball I've even seen all these years).

                  But since Perez is the younger one between the 2, I'll go for Perez.

                            If those bigs are not available for 1st 2 weeks of preparation due to injury, it's a must then that AJ practices vs a legit big like Phiipps. Or else sayang practice
