especially for the 2021 and 2022 qualifiers where Standhardinger will be 32 and 33 years old , ( he really doesn't rely on Athleticisim anyway) I still think he will be an integral part of the 2023 group that we need.

Still skeptical with Kobe Paras. I hope he shows us something next season in the UAAP.
Why would you pass on someone like Remy Martin?
Never look too far ahead. You might stumble on a block right in front of you.

True. Although his FG/3FG%'s aren't good right now(should correct itself) he is a solid 2-way player; being an excellent defensive point guard is often overlooked. Isn't a ball-hog either. Lastly NCAA Div I is pretty good competition.

          • Now that both the NCAA & UAAP basketball season is over, what's up with the Gilas cadets now?

There's this Dubai International Basketball Tournament which is usually held in late January. I think the present cadet pool plus imports Justin Brownlee & Angelo Kouame would be competitive in that tournament.

I like Ildefonso. The coaching staff is mucking up NU but he and Clemente are the sole bright spots there. The crazy thing is if they used their import more these two young guys would have had more open looks. Aquino and Rike have more PT than the import. Tsk tsk.

Last season, SBP sent MVP teams to International tournaments. San Beda for the Dubai International and Ateneo to the Jones Cup.

Next year for the Dubai International, Ateneo seems to be the more intact and more cohesive quintet to be sent to the Dubai International. Sending a select squad from the 23 for 2023 may not be feasible. It is a tight academic calendar for January as some players may have a lot of catching to do with their academics. You can send guys who have maxed out their college eligibilities but they will struggle with chemistry. Or you can send an intact, well-oiled machine like Ateneo, whom I think will be more competitive than a select squad with little time to prepare.

But what good is that for a future Phi National team sending a college team like Ateneo (although Ateneo has players who are also Gilas cadet pool members)?

Poor decision making for Kobe, he really missed those chances both academic and athletic offers.
Opportunities that he should have grab and patiently work on, he rushes a lot of things.
Poor management team as well and even hyping that he is going PRO.

KAI should avoid Kobe's path and go to EU.

Dubai tournament is a competitive tournament.

Maybe they found out that Kobe's SAT wasn't good enough for them. Diba Kobe's SAT score was the reason he didn't make it to UCLA, do I remember it correctly?

This is among the international tournaments that Gilas-1 actively participated in 2010 & 2011. The tournament usually features the top pro teams of Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Morroco, UAE, etc. Each team can have as many as 3 imports with only 2 can play at the same time.

And Gilas-1 did very well in this tournament.
