    • FAQ on venue changes
I purchased one of the affected passes, what are the changes in my pass? Follow My Team Philippines: Team Gilas will play 5 games in the Group Phase.
The first game day which is on August 25, 2023 will NOW be played at the Philippine Arena. The rest of the four games of Team Gilas will remain at the Araneta Coliseum.
Gilas Day Pass 1: Only Gilas Day Pass 1 (August 25), has been affected by the
change of venue. The two games included in this pass will NOW be played in
Philippine Arena instead of Araneta Coliseum. The other Gilas Day Passes (August 27 and August 29) are not affected by the change of venue.
2-Day Pass: Only Plan A (August 25-26), has been affected by the change of venue.
The two games played on August 25 will NOW be played in Philippine Arena instead of Araneta Coliseum, but the other two games played on August 26 WILL REMAIN in Araneta Coliseum. All the other 2 Day Passes (Plan B – C – D – E – F – G – H – I –J) are not affected by the change of venue.

LOL they need to focus on the important things. Is there railway line that would have station closer to the PH arena?. These infrastructure are the things that they should’ve been market in the fiba delegates but i guess it wouldn’t be possible due to the changing of the government administration.

the manila north railway project wont be finish in 3-5 yrs time and the Bocaue station is atleast 3 kms away from the Phil Arena. That place is just a logistics nightmare. FIBA spared us from the embarrassment,

imho, the refurbished Philsports arena could have been a good alternative venue (though that pasig-ortigas traffic could be a drag). Ateneo and UST gyms, and the ninoy aquino stadium could be tapped as practice facilities.

Cant blame SBP fully on the issues since the preparation was affected by the lockdowns/pandemic.

          • I think US should tap 6'9 Keagan Murray of Kings and Draft prospect Brandon Miller (2nd in mocks) for FIbA WC
to compliment Fox, Young , Jackson Jr. Beal

Maybe try to beat Italy to Banchero and sign Chet

            • MANILA (Philippines) - Indonesia is celebrating after the FIBA Basketball World Cup Draw. Erick Thohir, Budisatrio Djiwandono and Raffi Ahmad spoke excitement about the great teams coming to Jakarta.

Jakarta is actually a good deal, watch Wembanyama France , Canada and Spain , closer to action (venue is smaller) at half the ticket prices, and cheaper hotel and food

US basketball doesn't tap players who are entering their rookie season in the NBA... NBA owners wants their rookies to focus on their rookie season first, Only exemptions was Anthony Davis last 2012 Olympics, while Christian Laettner was only a college guy who was been in the famous Dream team line up of 1992....But it not happened again, There are rumors of Zion entering team USA of 2019 FIBA WC but it didn't happened....

You forgot KP of Latvia.... Group H is a Group of Death... Latvia can qualify in 2nd round if they were place in other Groups, such as Group A, B, D, F and G... It's weird that teams like Finland and Latvia (or others in their Group) will not qualify to the next round, while others such as Venezuela, Mexico or even South Sudan can qualify in the 2nd round... The competition is much better this year than in 2019...

                  • Just my opinion, team USA is a different situation as compared to years past . In previous iterations of WC teams , many veteran stars made themselves available, not the case today, if a high young pick like Keagan Murray or Brandon Miller is invited caue no star vets have accepted invitation, his camp (agent) in coordination with the NBA team, will provide a reasonable compromise provided of course the player is healthy and appropriate consideration is peovided (health insurance and limits in duration and games played to protect the player

Although you have a point, USA basketball will not tap them because they have unconventional agreement to NBA owners that Rookies should focus on their NBA careers first, They have to attend summer league games plus Pre - season games (plus pre season workouts and training camps)... But in case of international players, there are some exemption to this case, Hachimura (2019 - 2020 season), Yao Ming (2002-2003 season), are those international players who did participate in FIBA tournaments on their incoming NBA season.... Wembayanma might another incoming rookie that will make an exemption for this... Especially some French players might skip FIBA WC...

                      • Expect a lot of exceptions to the norm for team USA, given the rejection of invites

The upcoming rookies won’t endanger their career by playing for the WC.

Even in the Olympics (a tournament more highly regarded by USAB), they will only select one or two rookies.

                          • Prior to the advent of allowing pros in FiBA , team USA was essentially composed of the best incoming rookie professionals. , so will see.. the WC could be 2nd tier Americans last opportunity to represent their country in a world level event . We really never know. There have been previous discussions that team US field a team U23 for the World cup.

With GSW already eliminated, Steve Kerr now focus on his new duty as team USA head coach... Don't be surprise if some GSW players will be tap by coach Kerr, since they already knew their coach's system... Including Draymond Green... Green thinking about joining team USA this summer...

Warriors forward Draymond Green said after Friday's season-ending defeat for Golden State that he might "possibly play FIBA" for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup 2023.
