FAQ on venue changes
I purchased one of the affected passes, what are the changes in my pass? Follow My Team Philippines: Team Gilas will play 5 games in the Group Phase.
The first game day which is on August 25, 2023 will NOW be played at the Philippine Arena. The rest of the four games of Team Gilas will remain at the Araneta Coliseum.
Gilas Day Pass 1: Only Gilas Day Pass 1 (August 25), has been affected by the
change of venue. The two games included in this pass will NOW be played in
Philippine Arena instead of Araneta Coliseum. The other Gilas Day Passes (August 27 and August 29) are not affected by the change of venue.
2-Day Pass: Only Plan A (August 25-26), has been affected by the change of venue.
The two games played on August 25 will NOW be played in Philippine Arena instead of Araneta Coliseum, but the other two games played on August 26 WILL REMAIN in Araneta Coliseum. All the other 2 Day Passes (Plan B – C – D – E – F – G – H – I –J) are not affected by the change of venue.

LOL they need to focus on the important things. Is there railway line that would have station closer to the PH arena?. These infrastructure are the things that they should’ve been market in the fiba delegates but i guess it wouldn’t be possible due to the changing of the government administration.
imho, the refurbished Philsports arena could have been a good alternative venue (though that pasig-ortigas traffic could be a drag). Ateneo and UST gyms, and the ninoy aquino stadium could be tapped as practice facilities.
Cant blame SBP fully on the issues since the preparation was affected by the lockdowns/pandemic.

MANILA (Philippines) - Indonesia is celebrating after the FIBA Basketball World Cup Draw. Erick Thohir, Budisatrio Djiwandono and Raffi Ahmad spoke excitement about the great teams coming to Jakarta.
Jakarta is actually a good deal, watch Wembanyama France , Canada and Spain , closer to action (venue is smaller) at half the ticket prices, and cheaper hotel and food

Just my opinion, team USA is a different situation as compared to years past . In previous iterations of WC teams , many veteran stars made themselves available, not the case today, if a high young pick like Keagan Murray or Brandon Miller is invited caue no star vets have accepted invitation, his camp (agent) in coordination with the NBA team, will provide a reasonable compromise provided of course the player is healthy and appropriate consideration is peovided (health insurance and limits in duration and games played to protect the player

Even in the Olympics (a tournament more highly regarded by USAB), they will only select one or two rookies.

Prior to the advent of allowing pros in FiBA , team USA was essentially composed of the best incoming rookie professionals. , so will see.. the WC could be 2nd tier Americans last opportunity to represent their country in a world level event . We really never know. There have been previous discussions that team US field a team U23 for the World cup.
