disrespecting accomplishments they've rightfully earned just by being born in the US, Europe and Australia? I think that's no accomplishment at all. Put these US-born, European-born and Australian-born players in a third world Philippine setting with unnecessary politics, no opportunities other than PBA and outdated coaching principles, and put much more skilled Filipinos in their place where they'll get the right coaching, diet, exposure and opportunities to get Euroleague offers and Div 1 offers

Well, I think the politics and the college and HS arms race is why we aren't working harder to send our best eligibles, homegrown or otherwise, abroad for their development. I agree that sending the best abroad will develop them better, and have them get opportunities to get scouted for Div 1, Euroleague, NBL.

But, sad to say, because of the arms race and politics, we're not doing it. We need stakeholders who are willing to sacrifice in order that our best have a better chance of getting long careers in the NBL or in the West.

sad that argentina’s consecutive appearance in the world cup has ended, and this also ends their olympic aspirations for 2024.

Heck even Serbia is still not out of the woods and in danger of not qualifying.

While three powerhouse teams in Africa didn't qualified such as Tunisia, Nigeria and Senegal... How competitive are now African basketball... I think African slots should be expanded or don't be surprise if FIBA will expand their FIBA WC teams from 32 to 48... So many teams didn't qualified that we all know can capable off... Mr. James Naismith should be proud how global thing is the sport of basketball... After football, It's basketball that has reach international status and popularity and no other sports competition can match the reach of basketball after football... If some people didn't believe basketball is not 2nd most popular sport on earth, Then think of it!!!! It is basketball already the 2nd most popular sport on earth today and potentially rival football for global reach, market and followers...

There would only be a few countries that could afford it. Atleast 32 to 36 is an ideal number , its not that hard to organize since multiple countries can now bid to be hosting the WC. Asia should also be given that 8 slots permanently since the merger of main Asia & Oceana. They should add 2 more slots for Africa though.

There would only be a few countries that could afford it. Atleast 32 to 36 is an ideal number , its not that hard to organize since multiple countries can now bid to be hosting the WC. We can’t say in the future because basketball is already a global sport.. 20 years ago, the number of teams are just only 16.. 20 years ago, no one telling that the number of teams should be added… international basketball was not as popular back then.. this is not the case now… in Europe, I think there are atleast 6-8 teams that can capable to qualify, it’s tough in Europe… the teams such as Turkey, Russia, Poland, Croatia, Czech Republic, etc… didn’t qualify… actually 12 teams in Europe is not enough.. same as Africa.. I think 5 slots are not enough there… you can see how widely spread also in Africa, even the teams like Nigeria, Tunisia and Senegal didn’t qualify… oh, don’t you missed that argentina didn’t qualify as well..more countries take basketball very seriously now unlike before… that’s why we can never tell… and one thing.. more teams means more money…

We can never tell 10 to 15 years from now… as basketball as a sport already a global thing and international basketball is already getting popular especially with the presence of social media, having teams to 48 will be possible… remember, money still the king in everyone… more teams, means more money, more profit, more sponsors and more viewers in the other side of the world…

But still sad that one of my favorite teams Argentina didn’t qualify… oh well, after Slovenia in 2019 that the continental champs are not playing in the World Cup then it’s Argentina’s turn right now… last year’s americup champs but will missed the 2023 fiba World Cup… i forgot, even Tunisia, the afrobasket champs of 2021 didn’t qualify as well… it’s so crazy right now in international basketball…
