Not 2 -3 months , like asking batman to bring you to the promise land .. (for $$$$)
And in the UAAP, locals can be top scorers for their teams, like Schonny, Carl, Dave. Imports/FSAs usually aren't big scorers like Kouame and Diouf (yeah, they won MVP, but they weren't exactly go-to guys; Diouf wasn't much of a big minutes player), although Ben Mbala has been a go-to guy for La Salle, same with Bright Akhuetie for UP, and Soulemane Chabi Yo for UST.

In the PBA, how can you get teams to settle with role-player imports? Because low-level star imports or role player imports are the best they can get if they have the same pay as our best locals. Note lang that I'd also like our conception of imports as a go-to scorer or 34+ minute guy to change, to give locals a chance and for the import to simply fill what's lacking in the team. Scoring if the team lacks consistent go-to scorers like RoS.

in a 7 game series, it will be a sweep..

and the closest all NBL vs PBA is the fiba asia qualifiers for 2019 world cup.. both games are lopsided..
      That's an All-star exhibition lol

I think a better matchup is:
All Filipino Ginebra vs Sydney Kings without reinforcement (no Walton Jr, Soares, etc)
All Filipino San Miguel vs NZ Breakers without imports Barry Brown etc, and Next Star player

Talent wise we're not too far. We could actually win. Plus some of our best players are actually not playing in the PBA.
Manifesting: Philippines top 5 in the FIBA World Rankings

      • That's essentially similar to the NZL vs Gilas 2 window games last year , we all know how that went .

BTW the TBs in 2022 are much weaker than the local Breakers .
As nzl national team settles with those who can't.make a NBL roster or bench warmers rested ( realize Vodanovich, Samuel , Taane Samuel ngatai , prewster, Rustbatch etc) are NBL rejects and bench warmers yet essentially beat convincegly Gilas with PBA players ( Feb 2022)

For context the 2021 Breakers best kiwi 5 of Wetzell , Delaney, Abercombrie, Webster bros is actually more talented than the Tall Blacks 2019 World cup 19th place starting 5 and the OQT 2016 team that beat Gilas

the likelyhood of them suiting up for a EASL game is unlikely though , as these are Euro league pros (look even Corey Webster left for Motengro last week after the NBL in lieu of playing for tall blacks)

        • The SG position is set for World cup

          Ramos, BRP Jr., Kabayan, heading

Thirdy will be cut.. The elder ravena will make it.. (played well against lebanon)

Perez might play as Points guard with kief and iskati..

That’s 7 players right there.. Kai is sure in that makes 8..

Candidates for the remaining 4 are Japeth, Malonzo, June Mar, Carl, and Mason.

Japeth and June Mar might as well be in, so that leaves Carl, Malonzo, and Mason.

            • While this win was good it is too optimistic to assume that we are in for a better performance in the WC. This game showed the Junemar might have regressed. While his defense was marginally improved, his offense has gone down a lot. He is not strong enough inside anymore to offset his weakness on the perimeter. Mason has show great offensive skills. But he is a tweener on defense. Too slow to player the perimeter but to weak to guard the post. Strong as his scoring was he had a worse plus minus than Junemar was with a -3. Probably because of his defense. Malonzo has played well. But we don't know how he'll fare against better competition. Also, Brownlee plays a bigger position than Clarkson and is better defensively. We will lose a lot of defense without Brownlee. While Clarkson is not used anymore to facilitating an offense.

Kai would have helped us for sure. But after him, who do we rely on in the paint? Japeth might get injured again, as he often has recently. Tamayo is no rim protector. We'll have a better idea against Jordan which will probably simulate the size of the WC competition better.

Balti? The sudden eligibility of phelps? Though the problem with Balti is his rust

All of you forgetting AJ Edu... He's badly needed for your team... He's so undervalued... He's now doing fine in US NCAA managing his minutes, doing dirty work and can defend...

So you want Brownlee (PBA GOAT import) over Clarkson (NBA 6th man of the year)? Cmon!!! Are you smoking cocaine?

                    • Congrats on South Sudan, Philippines might have noise but the biggest news in whole qualifiers are SSD.. They are now talk of the town by qualifying their first FIBA WC appearance in their 1st try and youngest country on earth... Honestly, of all African teams should be avoided in the Draw, It will be them... I don't know what is their limit but they have potential to be a powerhouse team in basketball world...

If he's healthy and can play a few minutes, AJ should be good too.

Are Malonzo and Amos then our likely 4s for WC ? (Tamayo being other 1). Tough question if has to choose between Carl and Mason who would u pick? It's a legitimate scenario given generally you only go with 5 bigs (Kai, Aj, japs, Malonzo being the main bigs

As I've said, I predict Amos becoming a high quality stretch-4 in Asian basketball who would be within the same level as Lebanon's Ali Haidar in abput 4 yrs time.

Mason's a more sure shooter, but Carl's a better defender, both in switches and in the post. Carl can stay in front of guys better now, but Mason can learn that given enough training, as I think he's more athletic than Carl.

I'd still wanna pick both for the 4, though.

If this Lebanon team that's missing a lot of their A players is able to abuse Junemar what more in the World Cup? Clarkson cannot play PF or sometimes C like Brownlee. Japeth seems to be brittle at this state of his career. It seems we will be having missing a lof size with Kai our only sure serviceable big on defense. Malonzo was good in this game but we saw him struggle against these teams when they had their bigger players.

It's just one game, but June Mar's kind of concerning. He didn't look like the June Mar of old last night. He wasn't utilized that often on offense, which magnified the problems he posed defensively. As Rds said, he was targeted by shooters, and was slow to rotate both on drives and on threes.

That's why people would want AJ Edu. For defense, since Kai and Japeth are the only defensive presence we've had at 5 for these windows.

JMF is still a shoo-in. AJ Edu too.
Junemar's slow feet, and JC's horrendous defense could be easily addressed during the Gilas training camp.
In the WC we can't sacrifice size once Kai sits, JMF is still a valid inside presence when in prime condition.

                              PG: Scottie, CJ
                              SG: Dwight, BRP Jr.
                              SF: JC, Jamie
                              PF: AJ Edu, Japeth, Carl
                              C: Kai, Junemar

12th spot - Mike Philips, Quiambao, Oftana, Amos, Heading
Sedrick Barefield (if all of the sudden eligible)
Mikey Williams (if all of the sudden eligible)
Ange Kouame (if JC becomes classified as local)

                              • Unpopular take , a NP who can play 4 and with his presence increase each of Dwight, Parks and Kai's scoring avg by 5 pts , to me is better than Clarkson option.

But it will be political suicide not to use Clarkson.

Philippine basketball has to get to realization stage that it can't win on talent (as it will always inferior) but has to rely on chemistry to beat stronger talented teams..
The idea is you're building a team and program , Not simply fielding best player available.
What's the difference? Do you want your best locals Kai, Dwight etc to be maximize and develop or NoT ?
Build a core playing prolonged together, (Not a hugot collection)
