Grouping ourselves with Team USA is really a must not only for the exposure of our guys(especially for Kai, he badly needed that), not only for marketing purposes which they?re really need, not only to jack up our country?s tourism image but to put ourselves in the history book(I stand to be corrected if I butchered some stuff) as only the 4th (hopefully) meeting of the two teams wherein the very first match was way back in 1936 Berlin Olympics, the second one was the 1954 FIBA World held in Rio De Janeiro wherein we only lost by 13 points and the rest as we all know is historical due to that 3rd place finish and the 3rd meeting was in 1956 Melbourne Olympics were we ended up 7th place and that was 67 yrs. Ago. I think meeting them on the 4th time will going to be our(Filipinos) lifetime dream if ever it happens and SBP must be fully aware of it, at the same time the goal of reaching the 2nd round(for now) will be a big gift to us basketball loving Filipinos and because number 5 is the favorite number(?) of the oligarch due to his TV5, winning at least 5 games(even though it will be a steep mountain to climb) and losing against the mighty USA by only at least 13 points just to replicate the 1954 game and strategically wise, I hope we could face them on the very last day of the group stage so that our boys are already well acquitted with the high level, goosebumps and nerves are somehow settled and that so-called first day jitters are already well controlled(?). Overall that?s my ultimate fantasy scenario for team Gilas come WC2023.

Yup I agree if the main purpose is to qualify for the Olympics(if your talking about Paris) it’s not a good idea really but the purpose of that posted message is all about exposure and opportunity to our team especially for Kai. No one can argue that every USA game compose of high profile NBA guys(hopefully) will surely attract majority of the audiences(NBA owners, team managers, high profile basketball scouts among others) wether they’ll playing the lowest rank team in FIBA or the second rank team, it doesn’t matter, Team USA will certainly attract the viewership therefore, it’s also not about marketing either because its already given. The exposure of playing against top rank teams in a real competition in a regular basis will certainly give our boys a different kind of experience and confidence moving forward to be able to cope up with that so-called intimidating factor(being starstruck, fanboy/fangirl reaction). For me personally, I am not that enthusiastic about our(current) team aiming for Paris2024 rather I am mor interested and enthusiastic about LA2028. I think at that time our lads compose of Kai, Carl, AJ(barring no more major injury) and his brothers, Justine, Schonny, Jaime, AK34, Alex Konov, Dylan Harper, Caellum, Mason, Zaid, Francis Lopez just among the few are now in their ripe age and had enough experience already to be competitive in the higher level hoping that the leadership of the SBP beyond WC2023 are now in the right frame of mind to expose that core towards LA2028 and AUS2032 and establish a genuine grassroot development program to able to produce international level talent.

That is more harder since your team will not have a benefit to choose easiest group in the WC... This year is your best chance to qualify in the WC, Since the main target is to make it to the Olympics... Making to the R16 is the safest bet... Don't waste the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics... Playing team USA will come in the future and still more opportunities in future competitions, But making to the Olympics will be one of the lifetime dream of every athlete... Your team still notice if the can play in the Olympics... Nothing beats play for the Olympics... If your team qualifies for 2024 Olympics, scouts will notice their players... But they can still qualify since Kazakhstan have no talents to compete vs China (debut of Aleksandar Đorđević as HC) and vs Australia (this is too much for them even a D team version) both on the road..... While Iran can match up vs Japan, since the latter only parading local professional league players.... Iran has 1 game advantage over Kazakhstan...

The main reason why I?m more optimistic about LA2028 and AUS2032 is because the likes of Kai, Carl, AJ(hopefully), Geo, AK34, Justine, Mason, Caellum, Seven, Demisana. Alex Konov, Zaid, Dylan Harper among others are all grizzled young veterans in their early or mid 20?s during that time assuming the SBP(hopefully) are run by a more competent and hardcore basketball minded individuals not the current ones who?s only in that position not for their basketball minded wisdom but more of a close affiliation with the oligarch. I doubt if the likes of Junemar and Japeth can still be part of that pre-olympic qualifiers for that Paris2024 considering that the coming WC2023 will be their last(?) campaign donning the Gilas jersey.

Welcome. Sorry. Don't worry. I had the same experience. I went in guns blazing, and I wasn't welcomed when I first came in, but I was replied to. But maybe the other forumers are busy and/or inactive.

Anyways, it's between June Mar, Japeth, Carl, and maybe AJ Edu. It's a matter which skills you value, and age might be a factor too. As for June Mar, he needed to do that earlier, e, shed the weight.
