France will be good replacement... Wembayanma is hottest commodity outside the NBA today... all medias and scouts are looking at him... But for sure US will qualify, If i were USAB, I will put G-League ignite line up there... teams in Americas can beat team USA composed of G-League players... Mexico have most success against them while Brazil, Puerto Rico and Argentina can beat them with that line up anytime... Anyway only a win vs Uruguay for them already guarantee a WC spot for team USA already, they will have hard time vs Brazil for sure w/ that fringe G-League line up

‘THIS IS A NOW PROBLEM, REQUIRING IMMEDIATE ATTENTION’

Atom Araullo on Tuesday reacts after his tweet about the country’s transportation woes “inspired a lot of reactions online.”

“A good public transportation system is pro-people, and good for development too. Pointing that out does not make you unpatriotic,” he wrote.

      • Games at the Philippine Arena is such a bad idea traffic wise. Maybe they'd call it a holiday just so the country wouldn't be embarrassed.

        • I doubt there will be 5k visiting tourist crowd in the finals in the Philippine arena, This is mainly for the local crowd.

Depending who will make it to the finals... If it is Lithuania or Finland, they can bring max 10k people out there... In 2014 FIBA WC, Finland bring their 10k fans to Spain to watch their games... Finland fans are true supporters in any national team in any sports, Lithuania basketball fans has always a huge crowds, whenever they go, their supporters will go as well... maybe max of 10k but not less than 5k... Lithuanians are basketball fanatics like the Philippines... I hope they try to host 2027 FIBA WC, like Philippines, they have a huge crowd and good arenas out there... maybe another multi host alongside other European countries... Another thing, Taiwan and China fans can travel here, both known as huge basketball followers, It's easy to them to travel here unlike other countries because they are near in the Philippines....

            • Breaking: Russia and Belarus will join Asia (OCA) And play all of there athletes in Asia starting next year, They will be newest members in Central Asia division and will join the likes of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and other members of Central Asia Olympic committee... As for basketball, they will likely to join to Asia as early as 2026... They can't join in early next year because FIBA Asia pre qualifiers (for 2025) are already started last year and they are already in the 2nd round... So Belarus and Russia will likely join their Asian campaign in basketball starting at 2029 FIBA Asia pre qualifiers maybe somewhere in 2026.... Maybe in football they can start to join 2026 FIFA WC Asian qualifiers next year....

Australia, You now have a rival in Asian basketball scene in 2029 onwards... Goodluck to other Asian teams to beat those two giants....

This is more the problem ( there are no more than 3,000 suitable hotel rooms within reasonable travel time (1 hour ) of the Philippine arena.
And most of those available suitable rooms will be taken by wealthy locals

I don't know on this one... Maybe can create some hotels near there? I don't know how many years to build a 4 or 5 star hotel there, but i think most developers will likely to take this opportunity...

That's why they should have limited the venues to Big Dome and MOA because these two are closer to hotels, restaurants, and mass transpo. Traffic jam is the problem though.

Well, I hope Turkey and Israel may not be entice to follow suit considering they are legit Asian countries but due to a very big political issues they decided to leave their original domain.

                      • Now with FIFA WC finished and the final match became most hype match in the century, Let's now focus on upcoming FIBA WC next year's summer of 2023... I want the FIBA WC become the 2nd most watched World cup in entire world, As 2nd most popular sport (sorry cricket) in the world today, It should be the FIBA WC the 2nd most watch WC on earth.. But in the past, FIBA WC is only 5th among most watched WC event, even lose to Cricket and Rugby WC in terms of viewers... Last 2019 FIBA WC, they gathered 1.5 billion views, according to FIBA and became the most watched FIBA WC in history books, It's possible that this version of WC next year might break that record, because of growing popularity of this sport... It should be also FIBA WC is the most watched basketball event, even the NBA... If i were FIBA and the 3 host nations, This is the way to gather more viewers and putting themselves as prominent 2nd most popular sport on earth:

1.) In every event, There is/are the superstars of the sport to gather some interest of the viewers... This is what previous FIBA WC lacks, Because the strongest basketball team on earth Team USA didn't treat this tournament seriously (unfortunately), And the best basketball players are in the US then because they are not interested to play in FIBA WC tournament, the event are less prestige... But because the game is now more global and the best players on earth are now international (Not in US), This is the best chance for FIBA to market the tournament itself.. The possibility of having the likes of Giannis, Luka and Jokic will gather the interest of the fans and follow the event..

                        2) Make those three, Giannis, Luka and Jokic as the face of the tournament all tournament long (Possibily 4 w/ Wembayanma).. They should involve NBA to market the WC to the fans... Those three are top 10 most popular players in the NBA today, And if USA decides to have atleast some upcoming stars like Tatum, Young, Brown, etc... (even w/o the likes of Curry, KD and LBJ), That's good enough to market the tournament... Having some basketball superstars in every event will make the event more interesting to watch and gather more views..

3.) Make more use of social media... Another way to gather views to social media, Use it as a tool too...

4.) Make rivalries, One of the reasons more fans follow the event, Is because of rivalries... I don't know what are those international rivalries in FIBA (I think Spain vs France is the closest), But creating rivalries is fun to watch... Or atleast player rivalries atleast...

5.) Make updates in every event before the tournament starts, So that fans will not forget that the event will be held in this place, date and time.. In Social media, In every basketball games, etc...

As a basketball fan (more on a basketball fan than a football fan itself), I want the FIBA WC will be successful and more eventful next year... I want them to break records, from attendance, views, basketball records, etc... If the FIBA WC will be successful and get big time views, attendance, etc... next year, It will cement the sport of basketball will become the 2nd most popular on earth... No one can beat football as of now (and maybe forever) as far as popularity as concerned, But beating cricket, hockey and Rugby popularity and take the driver's seat as 2nd most popular sport, That should be the main goal of FIBA right now... They have now the global reach already compared to other sports that i mentioned (except football).. NBA did already their part to popularize the sport, It's time now to FIBA to do their part now... I'm excited for the next year's FIBA WC...

About that, IMO there's no fun in watching international basketball at the world level because we all know that a full-force Team USA will dominate the competition every single time, with very few exceptions, most notably the period between 2004 and 2006. The only reason Team USA may not win every single FIBA World Cup moving forward is that the players and the Team USA organization only care about the Olympics, and when they're not being humiliated like in 2004, not even then.

As long as they qualify for the World Cup and then directly qualify for the Olympics by virtue of being one of the top two Americas teams in the World Cup, they can get away with not sending out full-force teams and still be competitive. Remember, they basically sent the Boston Celtics (but with Pop as their HC) to compete for Team USA in 2019, and it was enough for them to qualify for the Olympics. Some of the NBA's best American players didn't even play in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, yet they still won the gold medal, although they lost to France in the group stages.

However, there might be a potential rivalry between Team USA and France. Reportedly, Embiid has recently processed his naturalization from Cameroon to France. Embiid, Wembanyama, and the other French NBA players could give even a full-force Team USA a run for their money.

Marketing the NBA's best players currently like Luka, Giannis, and Jokic would need their respective national teams to be competitive enough to qualify for the World Cup every time. Greece could probably do this consistently even without Giannis, but I am not sure about Slovenia and especially Serbia. Slovenia at least has some of the best players from the Eurobasket on their teams, but Serbia nowadays has been incredibly weak at the European level without Jokic, and now they will have to win both of their remaining games without him, but especially against Turkey in the final qualifying window.

As the current authority for soccer, FIFA can schedule club games and international games with each other in mind. FIBA does not have this luxury, as they couldn't even get the NBA and the Eurobasket to agree with a sort of sport calendar. Add FIBA trying to be like FIFA, and now the best players from every basketball MNT couldn't even play for their countries during the qualifiers while the NBA, Eurobasket, and other leagues' seasons are ongoing.

Unfortunately, womens side are not enticing unlike the mens side... There are still gender discrimination among some people in some sides of the world (probably Arab countries)... FIBA WC was more views than womens side of FIFA last 2019 (1.5 billion > 1.12 billion), even some other tournaments are better than FIFA Womens WC... Cricket WC will be the bitter rival of FIBA WC as spectators as concerned, because of India - Pakistan rivalry... Sorry to tell that FIFA Womens side will not be as popular as their mens counterpart.... But because of global status of basketball, beating Cricket WC in terms of views next year will be possible because of latters' not recognized in most of the countries around the world...
