You can add to the list:

    Jordan Poole
    Scotty Barnes
    Evan Mobley
    Cade Cunningham

But they need veteran internationalists for calming presence:

    Jrue Holliday
    Devin Booker
    Jayson Tatum
    Jalen Brown
    Bam Adebayo

Jayson Tatum likely will be the main guy now for team USA... he's now their "Captain America" for them... I'm 90-95% sure he will play... He's not like other Americans that too arrogant for themselves... Maybe Jaylen Brown too.... Bradley Beal also said that he will play too if healthy... Maybe much better than 2019 version... Donovan Mitchell in the conversation too and the potential 2nd pick next year's draft Scott Henderson of G-League Ignite... Actually those who you mentioned i think will not participate, Lamelo Ball likely will not participate because he doesn't care for team USA even his youth days... While Holmgren still recovering for injury... I'm sure he will not participate... I'm also not sure on Ja Morant... I think he doesn't care to play for team USA....

?I?d like to think it works to our advantage,? USA Basketball men?s national team managing director Grant Hill said. ?I think we have to be mindful and respectful that these players are on airplanes all throughout the regular season and kind of move from city to city, bed to bed, hotel to hotel.

"It?s a grind. ... I think once we get there, and we get settled, we can kind of plant some roots for a couple of weeks. I think it is something that can work to our advantage.?

Slovenia will play group stage games in Okinawa, and Canada will play its opening games in Jakarta. Okinawa is about 900 miles (1,450 kilometers) from Manila, while Jakarta is roughly 1,700 miles (2,735 kilometers) away.

The Okinawa and Jakarta groups will each send two teams to Manila for the final phase of the tournament. The other four nations that qualify for the final phase will have already been there; the U.S, the Philippines and 14 other nations in the 32-team field will be in Manila for the group stage.
FIBA should arrange the schedule after 2nd round, it should be atleast 3-4 days rest before the QF starts, especially those who are assigned to Jakarta and Okinawa...

That line up is weaker than 2014 or slightly better than 2019 version... but the biggest difference here is the competition...The international teams of 2023 is now for sure way better than 2014 & 2019... France will be likely favorites in the tournament... Their 2021 silver medal Olympic team plus Wembanyama are way tougher than any team... Gobert-Wembayanma combo in the paint are surely headache for every team even for team USA... And Wemby can play perimeter too, While Gobert will only focus on defense... Australia and Canada will parade all NBA rosters, that is also medal contender, but they need atleast 3 months to create familiarity and chemistry as a team... Don't forget Spain too... They are no.1 ranked team by FIBA today... And also contenders Serbia and Jokic (not yet qualified by only 1 win away to advance), Giannis and Greece then Luka and Slovenia....I think this 2023 version of WC will break all records in terms of viewership, fan following, etc... and also likely the largest contingent of NBA player participants since FIBA allowed professional players, especially the NBA to participate in FIBA competitions...

not sure if confirmed but US is set to play in the Phil for the group stages, lets see if SBP will cherrypick US' group so they'll have a blockbuster ticket sales against Gilas
If i were Indonesia federation, I would rather pick France than Canada to host them... Victor Wembanyama is now hottest young prospect not in the NBA today (biggest prospect since LBJ) and all sports media around the world are looking at him what he can do in a big stage like this before he will play in the NBA next season... According to ESPN analyst, Teams that will pick Wembanyanma in the 1st pick will generate about 5 million sales and revenues in the team that will picks him... That is huge and he's already a star even not playing.. So France w/ Wembayanma playing in Jakarta will surely all eyes on them... Canada is good choice but i think France is a better one to choose because of world basketball/sports media watching and looking at him right now... Revenue wise and viewers wise, teams who are look to watch are USA, Serbia (because of Jokic), Slovenia (because of Luka), Greece (because of Giannis) and France (due to Wembanyama)....

            • So it means the Draw Pots will be like this:

POT A: Spain, USA (If qualifies/Not yet qualified), Philippines and Japan

POT B: Australia, Argentina (If qualifies/Not yet qualified), France and Serbia

Then the rest will be according to FIBA rankings, But since Slovenia and Canada will play in Okinawa and Jakarta respectively, They will be drawn differently... Slovenia will be drawn only either Groups E or F (Okinawa) while Canada will be drawn either Groups G or H (Jakarta).. Like US and Philippines, Japan and Slovenia will be not drawn each other in one group... So the possible strongest POT C and D for Philippines and Japan are Lithuania, Greece, Italy, Germany, Brazil (If qualifies) and Venezuela (If qualifies).. Just only 6 because Canada will play in Jakarta, so means PHI and JPN will not grouped with them while Slovenia will be separated with Japan... Then the rest will be determine after the 6th window who will qualify.... The weakest among POT C and D is only Venezuela... Who among Japan or Philippines will be group with Venezuela, There is a chance that they will have a easy group... But remember, Venezuela stops China's plan last 2019... Beware of them as always...

              • Who do you think will be the fourth team in Pot 1? Gilas, USA, Spain, then France? Too bad then, as I really want to see a Kai vs. Victor matchup. But the good thing is we have a better chance to qualify for the Olympics because they will be placed in a weaker group.

Is Japan going to be in POT 1 too? I thought it was only the us, as we are the main host.

                  • So the POTS are based on ranking.

                    POT 1

                    Philippines
                    USA
                    Spain
                    Australia

                    POT 2

                    Argentina
                    France
                    Serbia (Not yet qualified though)
                    Slovenia

                    POT 3
                    Lithuania
                    Greece
                    Italy
                    Germany

Ok, according to this link by FIBA, only Philippines mentioned in the POT 1, no Japan name here... Although Japan and Slovenia will be separate groups in Okinawa... Nothing is final yet because 15 slots left... Even team USA are not qualified yet....

We all know that the US will qualify for the FIBA worlds, but what might happen if the US screws up its remaining games and fails to qualify, who do you think SBP will choose as US replacement? Spain?

NB: too bad we wont be having a Phil-Spain-US-Japan reuinion in Manila/Bocaue, hope that Japan gets Italy and Germany for a Axis reunion

It would be fitting to call this Colonial Series, should a group like this (in any major sport event) materialize.

kinda happened at some extent during this yr's FIFA world cup with England being grouped with the US, Wales and Iran. if this is pro wrestling, winner of the group gets custody of the Philippines hehe.

a colonial series/tournament in football or basketball would be a good idea actually

If we put China and UK in the fray as well, then we will called it the Heritage Series, imagine those countries are considered as the great grandparents of the modern day Filipinos.

In Europe, most of Balkan and former Soviet countries always grouped each other... Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro (Yugoslavia states) and also former USSR states (Russia, Latvia, Ukraine, Lithuania)
