Speaking of this year's Jones Cup, I wonder who would be the other players available to play for Gilas "cadet" team by that time since the collegiate basketball season of the UAAP & the NCAA would be ongoing at that time?

Kobe P., Ricci Rivero, J-Jay Alejandro, and Abu Tratter are expected to be available for the Jones Cup as these players are not committed to any team in collegiate basketball. Perhaps Rayray Parks would also be available since the ABL season would be over by that time, unless of course if Parks tries out in the NBA summer league or in the NBA D-League.

Would the "cadets" now in the PBA (like Belo, Jalalon, Pogoy, Tolomia, Ferrer, Daquioag) be allowed by their mother teams to play in the Jones Cup?

in essence, they no longer considered as cadets because they are already playing pros in the pba. however, they are under contract or moa i don't what it binds them to commit in gilas. thus, they are still cadets.

but if imo, they should not be considered as cadets but as a senior members of gilas. cadets should be always there because every year, we find talents and every year, there are talents graduating from their respective college teams. therefore, gilas cadets should always be in place.

this is the reason why i always want jong to be reconsidered as nt's head coach or atleast juniors/youth head coach. because he knows how to utilize players and how to maximized the players through their strengths. also, he has good in-game adjustments which chot does not have.

I still refer to them as cadets to distinguish them from the "elite" Gilas members like Junmar, Japeth, Castro, Kiefer, Norwood, Abueva, Wright, etc.

It would be burdensome for Sotto to train/play/practice for Gilas 2023 pool, Batang Gilas U-16 and U-18 youth teams.

Lets not put too much burden on the shoulders of this kid. Baka masunog yung bata.
sa bagay it makes sense.. he must focus on u17 and u18 tournaments..

            Gilas 2023 pool can wait.

Lets wait for Kai to complete his commitments for the RP U-16 & U-18 youth teams this year before we make him join the Gilas 2023 pool training/practices/games.

2023 FIBA World Cup is 5 years away. Long way to go.

              • If Cortez and Kai join the cadet team the front court can become deeper. Might be able to slide guys like gozum from 5 to 4. Jeo ambohot can be the 3.

So, is Troy Rike eligible or not?

                              • I would love to see this Gilas 2023 cadet pool in this year's Jones Cup. Problem is, most of the members won't be available since collegiate basketball season of the UAAP & NCAA would be in full swing by that time.

That would only leave Ricci Rivero, JJ Alejandro, Abu Tratter, Kobe Paras & perhaps Troy Rike as among the members Gilas 2023 cadet pool that would be available for the 2018 Jones Cup.

Since Dwight Ramos has already went out of California State-Fullerton & is not committed to any school, maybe SBP should invite him to play for Gilas 2023 cadet team in the 2018 Jones Cup.
